Ive been searching all around online for an answer but haven't been able to find anything so I though I would post here. Hopefully someone has an answer. Im looking into getting the 5d mark 3 so I can install magic lantern on it for raw video. I know the 5d3 is not capable of 60p at 1080 so I was wondering is it possible to shoot at 120 in h.264 at 1080p or 720p? The only thing I could find in reference to this is a post from 6 years ago. If anyone can help me answer this I would appreciate it.

Don't have a 5d3, but as far as I know, higher then 60fps is not possible.
Without Magic-Lantern installed you can shoot max 60 fps (Only available in 720p mode, not available in 1080p)
With magic lantern installed, still 60fps at max (in 1920 x 800 resolution)

120 fps has never been possible.

Here's an overview of the options with the 5d3:

On the 5D Mark III, you now have the following new resolutions:

* 1920x960 @ 50p (both 1:1 crop and full-frame - 3x3 pixel binning) - continuous*)
* 1920x800 @ 60p (same as above)  - continuous*)
* 1920x1080 @ 45p and 48p (3x3 binning)  - continuous at 45p
* 1920x1920 @ 24p (1:1 square crop) - continuous*)
* 3072x1920 @ 24p (1:1 crop)
* 3840x1536 @ 24p (1:1 crop) (corrupted frames at 1600)
* 4096x2560 @ 12.5p (1:1 crop) - continuous*) at 8 FPS
* 4096x1440 @ 25p (1:1 crop)
* Full-resolution LiveView: 5796x3870 at 7.4 fps (128ms rolling shutter) - continuous*) at 5 FPS!
* Full-width LiveView - decrease vertical resolution in the crop_rec submenu, all the way to 5796x400 @ 48 fps :)

I agree here that 60 fps is sort of the stop. Maybe you can use a fps override to 65 fps or maybe 70 fps, but that's max, and if you do that you drastically reduce the time you record from 2 and half (3/3,5 halv maybe aslo possbile) second sort of to less then a second so 60 fps is most usefull.

The resolution is much better then 720p, but not exact 1080p, its squeezed 1920x 700 ish, can't remember the exact resolution but that's how Canon do it. I think the quality is great from 60 fps and you just have to unsqueeze it in post before debayering.

120fps with 14-bit raw video would just be crazy for a camera like the 5D3. The above is just for 14-bit video since I only use that, and if I was aiming for 10 bit or something I would shoot with a GH5 or something. 14-bit is superior in my opinion thought.
