Hello there,

inspired from this SmarterEveryDay video i am really excited if someone plans to
catch some cool phenomena during that eclipse on August 21st in the states using their canon cameras and make a cool video from it?

e.g. the so called "Shadow Bands" would for sure look better with MLV than with a iphone camera as seen on youtube :D

I don't have a good telephoto lenses, but I could try if you need this footage (600D). I'm not really into astrophotography, though.

nah i dont need it.
Its just those rare occasions are worth the extra effort and the extra quality.

and there are very few solar eclipse videos and even less really cool ones :)

More data on upcoming solar eclipses:

Upcoming eclipses visible in Europe (take care, "visible" does not tell you that much)

Details linked in list.

If I got it right next total eclipses for Italy will take place 3rd of September, 2081. Don't expect to meet me there ...

Walter, ThankYou for the links.
Next eclipse here 2081? I will see what I can do (at the age of 123) :)

I looked in the link from Walter. There are a few interesting eclipses in the next years, visible from Mittelfranken, Germny:

27. Juli 2018: Total lunar eclipse
21. Januar 2019: Total lunar eclipse
11. November 2019: Mercury transit over the sun

And a little journey to Bilbao, Spain on 12. August 2026 presents a total solar eclipse. And in 2026 I will have plenty of time, I guess :)

Btw, Thursday last week I recorded some solar spots using my 6D with ML (MLV crop 10bit): https://seescho.wordpress.com/2017/06/16/sonnenflecken-und-granulation-vom-15-6-17/

Found something for eclipse photography: https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/581411-new-canonmagic-lantern-script-eclipse-magic-generate-and-execute-a-full-sequence-of-varied-exposures-spanning-all-eclipse-phases/

@escho: Bilbao is worth more than a single visit. But I'm afraid visibility for solar eclipses at sunset in a major city at summertime might be a problem.
Lago Enol however sounds promising.
