Control of autofocus LED with button push?

I recall in the past seeing something about a "flashlight" mode, but I see no reference to it in the manual now, and I have not seen it on the ML Menu on my camera.

My feature request is to be able to control (light up) the orange/yellow LED on the front of my 600D with a button push while focus is locked.  (Or at all times if it does not conflict).

I have trouble getting my baby to look at the camera for a photo instead of my face, so I thought if I could make the camera flash to get his attention it would be helpful.  Currently I use a flashy toy place right above the camera, but it makes for difficult shooting.  A thumb press on the zoom in button lighting the light would allow me to strobe it with my thumb to get his attention.

Is there some functionality that covers something like this already?
