Hi,
I am trying to work out a good work-flow for shooting RAW video (7D, ACR in PS CS5, FCPX).  I have had good results with shooting in RAW, converting using RAW2DNG then to ProRes 4444 with MPEG Streamclip and importing resulting file into FXPX. I have been trying to streamline my workflow and also have the option to EITHER convert to ProRes by shooting MLV and converting in  MIRawViewer OR use the ACR/DNG route.  I can convert MLV to ProRes successfully using MIRawViewer but the DNG files are not recognised by Camera Raw and will not open. I just get an error saying the files are not supported.  DNGs from RAW2DNG will open fine. I was under the impression that DNGs are DNGs and would always open? Can anyone explain to me what is happening here?
Thanks.

The DNGs that come out of MLRawViewer have never worked for me - last I tried, it had a pink cast, suggesting an incorrect black level in the metadata. These things are unlikely to get fixed, as the project is deprecated.

MLRawViewer is still a great previewing tool. But the good news is, there are a lot of quite mature projects here that solve your entire workflow problem:

Any platform, MLVFS gives you clean working DNGs. Take a look: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=13152.0

Windows: MLVProducer is great. http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=15271.0
Mac/Linux: MLP is wonderful. http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=13512.0
Mac/Linux: Shameless advertising :) convmlv does a lot of stuff. http://magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=16799.0 (my personal workflow is, shoot MLV, convmlv, edit)

Setup of these takes some effort and research, but it's certainly worth it for the final output. No need to shoot in .RAW!

Wow! Thanks for the info Guys.  Very helpful.
Licaon_Kter re. the post that you linked to. Is editing MLRawviewer something I can do in TextFiend? If so where will I find the file? Or do I have to be a Python programmer in order to do this?
