Hi,
I would like to share with you an small video I did over the last couple of weeks:

Shot entirely with a Canon 5D mkIII, in RAW, and using the SLR Magic Anamorphot 1.33x 50 Anamorphic Adapter.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. The night time lights flare nicely!  What lens did you use the adapter with?  Any lessons you'd care to share about using the adapter?  Is focus sometimes hard to nail with the adapter?

Thanks Simonwb!

Yes, definitely the flaring looks nice.
I used the Canon 50mm 1.8 as a taking lens, which probably helped with the flares. I had done other tests with a Helios 58mm and they were a bit wilder.
Something that I learned is that in order to keep the image sharp, is best to keep the taking lens around f4 or less. This way the image stays sharp, and it makes it slightly easy to focus. But nailing the focus is really hard with a lens with such a short focus ring. I have the sharpening value in my picture profile all the way up, to help with the focus peaking, and I zoom constantly to make sure that what I want is in focus, and a lot of times, when I look at the shots in the big screen in my computer, they are out of focus.

Hey pakobagur,

If this is the Canon 50mm f1.8 II, this might help you out: http://www.shapeways.com/product/9ZMKHDM3G/nifty-fifty-canon-50mm-f1-8-follow-focus-adapter

I know it has helped me.

That looks interesting, Paul Harwood.
I have just ordered one, and now I'm also tempted to buy that 50$ follow focus. Do you have any experience with it?

Thanks!

Hey pakobagur,

So glad you found the link helpful! I wouldn't order that follow focus, I would either purchase a lens strap https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BL9WDI6/ref=s9_acsd_hps_bw_c_x_1 and attach it to the 50mm follow focus gear you purchased.

If you can, I highly recommend buying this follow focus: https://www.amazon.com/upgrade-DP500IIS-Rlease-dampen-follow/dp/B00EAJK2CS/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1479333528&sr=1-1&keywords=fotga+dp5002s

And Fotga makes many other camera rig accessories at affordable prices. Great quality.

If you have any other questions please let me know, I've researched quite a bit before purchasing gear.
