Tips on Syncing Audio During a Studio Recording?

So we're doing a little studio live recording type of videos.
I'm having issues figuring how to sync everything up in the post.

What's going on:

The guitarist is recording music as we shoot. He sometimes does multiple takes. Later we have to edit the video to have all the takes that THEY have chosen to keep in the recording.

I hoped Plural Eyes 4 would work but it can't sync most of the shots. What I tried is using the actual audio track which didn't work and then using the separate guitar track (it's louder in the camera's captured recording). Nope hope for automation?
