Recently I read a different workflow for RAW processing

Instead of processing DNG files in their original size, you load them into Photoshop and export them in larger size.
Other than the better interpolation, is there a hidden benefit or are we concluding to the same result through a longer path ?

I did something similar:

  • imported 1080 DNGs into PS
  • exported as 4K tiffs
  • imported into FCPX and created a 4K clip
I think I noticed a slight increase in sharpness but it is a) laborious and b) storage hungry - each c2Mb DNG grew to a c24Mb tif.
Would be very interested to hear what others have found.

you will get the sames results if you export your 1080p dng footage in 4k with the DNXHR codec into Resolve and you dont will lose time.

I already did the comparison between PS and Resolve 12.5 and i dont noticed any differences.

Question about workflow...

If I want 4K video, what is better ?

- Convert dng in 1080p then Premier pro export in 4K

Or

- Convert dng in 4K then Premier Pro export 4K

I think it's easyer to work in 1080p then export 4K but don't know about quality ??
