external tally lamp for Canon DSLR

Hey guys,

i'm searching for days now and there seems to be no real solution.

I want to have a external tally lamp that shows the actor wheater the Camera (such as Canon 550D / T2i) is actually recording.
Is there any chance to get a signal from the camera that shows that it is recording? I don't want to use the small tally light on the back of the camera.
