I know there is an article or two talking badly about running both sd and cf. my question however is not whether or not they will run at speed simultaneously but whether or not it can  record RAW fast enough on its own. because if this is so, this appears to be a good deal. any of you card pros out there have an input?

Atm there's no ML capable cam supporting sd card writes speeds > ~40MB/s. rbrune's calculator will do the math:

Haven't found reliable info about 128 GB type but 64 GByte was tested by Camera Memory Speed.com:
http://www.cameramemoryspeed.com/reviews/sd-cards/sony-95mbs-u3-64gb-sdxc-memory-card/
Compare with other cards running in 6D: http://www.cameramemoryspeed.com/canon-6d/sd-card-comparison/

Caveat: Anything said about 64 GB type may not be valid for 128 GB type because controller/firmware built in may be different.

Thanks for the info guys. so what im understanding is that it would be a waste in terms of purchasing it for raw video, as the highest write speeds for SD ATM are  < 40MB/s correct?

Yes, correct. As you stated cf card in initial postI think it's  better to buy a quality cf card for your cam.
