I know I can check in the ML menu for hyperfocal distance for deepest DoF but would love it if I could have it shown in the main display for quick access.
Possible?

from liveview you already can press * when it's selected in the menu.
I'll like to have it in an overlay and photo mode too.

another suggestion is a shortcut that will set focus to hyperfocal bt i'll do another feat request for that maybe.
I'm using ML2.3 for photography with:
EOS 600DML | EOS 400Dplus | EOS 5D MLbeta5- EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro  - EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM - EF 70-200mm f/4 L USM - 580EXII - OsX, PS, LR, RawTherapee, LightZone -no video experience-

I was thinking about some hyperfocal functions:

  • AF hyperfocal shortcut: When in AF pressing set in the menu on the dummy entry, that now show lens value, move focus point to hyperfocal point.
  • Focus value overlay in LV: Like for hystogram an option to see them shown always maybe other the bottom bar in trasparent black
  • keep hyperfocal focus option: Option that correct hyperfocal focus point if aperture is changed when enabled

Where to place it?
If we cut out the lens name I think it can take on line over the bottom bar, o maybe better alternate it with audio meter? same size it has now to me looks good so far.

Sounds perfect. Much appreciated that you take this into consideration.

Btw anyone who can enlighten me why the lens reports focus distance in video mode but not in photo mode?
Would love for easy access to hyperfocal distance in photo mode too.

I'm afraid only Canon engineers can ask this - and they don't follow this forum afaik :P

It works in LiveView ;)
