Hello everyone,

I am in the search for a 128 gb CF card that will support continuous raw video recording with sound at 1728 x 976 (16:9) at 23.976 fps. I currently use a Lexar 1066x 64 gb, and am able to do 2K recording without a problem. To be honest, I'm not concerned as much with 2K recording, and prefer the 16:9 continuous. I'm looking at a SanDisk 128 GB Extreme Compact Flash Memory Card with: Read Speed up to 120 MB/s, Write Speed up to 85 MB/s, and is UDMA 7 Compliant. Does anyone know if I can pull off 16:9 raw continuous recording with sound with the Canon 7D on this card? I'm trying to figure out if I really need the Lexar 1066x, and am thinking the extra storage on the Sandisk would be nice. The Lexar 64 gb is priced at $80.99 and the Sandisk 128 gb is $119 (on B&H). Thanks.

Hey DeafEyeJedi thanks so much for responding to my post.

I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about Komputerbay. At this point, I am not sure if they are reliable at all based on the horror stories I have read. My major concern is raw video being ruined because of corrupted frames. I get the idea these are CF cards from top brands that are defected and Komputerbay sells them for cheaper, with a "Lifetime Guarantee" but no refund policy. But I see you a lot on this forum, so I trust your input. Do you mind informing me about these cards, and if they are worth investing in?

Also, do you know if the Sandisk Extreme I mentioned would work?

     Thanks a bunch.

I have lots of Sandisk Extreme Pro's (32, 64GB), few Lexar 1000x's (32GB) and few KB 1066x (128GB) -- so I can't really say for the 128GB in neither Lexar or Sandisk yet but honestly with that price you provided is absolutely a steal especially for these well respected brand names.

I bought both of my KG 128GB 1066x for $120 @ time of purchase during Holidays of 2014.

They all work well wity my 5D3 & 7D along with each of their own strengths and weaknesses by certain brand & model in comparisons but no one will probably notice unless you benchmark them on a daily rate.

Since your priority is 23.976fps in 16x9 so you can even get full 1080p when shooting MLV in 3x crop-mode (preferably w a wide lens) with your 7D and it looks nice (less moire, etc) ... Def worth a try!

Alright awesome. Thanks so much DeafEyeJedi for all of this helpful information! I will definitely consider KB if I need more cards in the future. I agree, the Sandisk is a steal. I'm just hoping it will work well for what I need! I actually ordered Mosaic Engineering's VAF-7D, but yes the crop mode is nice for eliminating most of the moire and aliasing. The thing I worry about is getting the shot right because with 1080 or 2K the shot is wider than what the screen shows in crop mode. I personally like to upscale footage to 4K using Red Giant's Instant 4K since the Youtube compression is better upscaled. I hope all is well with you, and thanks again for your help!
