Hm... but MLVApp won't import dng files.

Emmmmm...I can change setting to DNG-lossless in order to do that

Hello
Starting from Danne's branch
https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=9741.msg208959#msg208959
I compiled for the EOSM2 model:
https://bitbucket.org/ccritix/magic-lantern/downloads/magiclantern-Nightly.2019Sep14.EOSM2103.zip
I do not know yet if it is as functional as EOSM because I have not yet been able to do the tests.

@critix, what would be new with this September 14th ML on the M2? I use an old build now and then. It has mv1080 and 4k Anamorphic modes and works nicely. Thanks.

I'll give it a test as I have 2 EOS M 2's and can afford to lose one!  :P

Tested it. It's not functional yet. No presets can be selected to record.

Interesting. Could you share the code for these changes to eosm2?
Yes, I will share the code a little later, when I get to the laptop.

No preset because modules not loaded. Please load modules.

Hi all, newbie here. I’ve tried reading through this thread but I think I don’t know enough to follow the current state of things, so pardon my asking... Is ML stable enough on the M2 if I mainly just want to use focus peaking? Are the instabilities people mention general problems that need to be solved, or are they problems with specific ML features?

Thanks in advance, and big thanks for taking on this project!

Tested it too, it's very unstable, here's what i experienced :
  • There's something weird hapenning with the ML menus, there's glitches all over like shown here (As you can see cache is locked too... Don't know if this is supposed to happen) :
  • Using this build (On my camera at least) is impossible as the camera randomly restarts without any reason :(

All modules are enabled and i'm on the right firmware revision, this different menu structure seems interesting though !

All modules are enabled...

No wonder it is unusable--enable only the modules you are testing out. Most of the modules aren't working on the M2.

Tried that with only RAW + DualISO (Would show an error otherwise)
Also added LUA in another try

Stil reboots :P

hello,

I just got myself an EOS M2, planning to use it mainly for video. Thanks to all the devs who have put work so far into porting ML to the M2

What's the best ML build/config for it so far?

Also, my coding skills are quite basic but I'd love to help with any testing necessary.

I took another shoot to see if dual-iso works,
for this video I used 100/800 on the dual iso and get 14ev stops of DR
The result is amazing and beautiful, however the green line still exist.
I tried use my way which I mentioned before, it doesnt works. lol
Still, it is good to see this noise level and DR on EOSM2. Good job

Green line? Take off bit depth in the crop sub menu  and keep aspect ratio 16:9. X3 crop works best for dual iso. No aliasing or artefacts. The only issue I have are the focus pixels. 3x3 won't cure them with both x3 & dual iso enabled...

Yes, the focus pixels is what I mean. Focus pixels fix seems can not work with dual iso?

So what is the current write speed for the M2.  I spent a few minutes looking but haven't come up with an answer.
Debating between buying the M or M2 and right now I seen an M2 for $152 which seems like a good deal compared to $130 for an M

Which do you recommend for RAW?
Which do you recommend for normal + continuous AF?

If you are after reliable continuous AF you should not consider buying a EOS M or M2.

To my testing... EOS M2's continuous AF is usable on the object that does not move too much, a interview for example.
However the EOS M indeed, do not have a reliable continuous AF even if the object is not moving.

EOSM2's AF system has been improved to the level which is usable.

Just for fun lol.
Anamorphic feeling
ISO 6400 and the noise level is acceptable :))

What's with all the download activity on the magiclantern-Nightly.2019Jul26.EOSM2103_new-settings build I posted on my downloads page? Does it actually work? Don't have this camera anymore to try it out.

Not a useable build at all (July26). The merged build is amazing, use it all the time, no issues with it, continuous recording, perfectly working with external monitors, MCM rewire works fine as well as 4k anamorphic and x3 crop, it just can't achieve 1/50. Increment is 1/43 - 1/56.

Some issues with this build:
- Way too many modules.
- Stuck at ~30fps
- Once raw video is recorded @16:9 1736x976 the footage playback looks like anamorphic with focus pixel dots everywhere.

perfectly working with external monitors

I've just purchased an M2 and intend to install ML. Zeek, when you say perfectly working do you mean only with 480p setting limitation?

No, the 480p thing was with mv1080 a lot of builds ago before we had mcm rewire. It works with mcm rewire 1080 no need to set 480 on the monitor. The M2 works well with my different monitors such as the FOTGA A50T and the Feelworld 4K Monitor F570.

"WARNING" - Just make sure you "TURN OFF" Wi-fi when using an external monitor on the EOS M2, otherwise nothing will show up ;)

FWIW I finally went ahead and put the latest M2 build from danne’s archive on mine. I mostly wanted focus assist features for my manual lenses, and those are working just as I’d expect them to. Focus peaking, zoom when the shutter’s half-pressed, etc. Thanks for the great work of getting this going!
