Danne July 27 EOS M2 Build Tested:

Works good, pretty weird results actually:
- Each time you restart the camera, you must enable "movie crop mode" as it is automatically set to "off" each time
- Oddly enough, the camera can now record with a "1.55x" crop [1800x1012] instead of the usual 1.61x and the footage looks fine on MLV App.
- shutter 1/45, 1/55 (Wouldn't mind using 1/45 if it weren't for the flickering lights in the ceiling)

* Focus modes:
- "Focus Aid" becomes creates a blank white screen when half-pressed
- x3 Toggle won't work when pressing the down button (maybe interfering with "preview"?)
- x3 crop works

If that 1.55x crop [1800x1012] could be a kept resolution of the M2, that would be amazing...

Oki, thanks for feedback. Will check some more later.
The resolution 1800 is not true when checking files in mlv app. Will have a border.
The other features talked about is not looked into yet.

My experience with the previous build pretty well matches Zeek's report. Only thing to add for me was I couldn't get 25fps without selecting fps override. In the previous build I could get 25fps just by selecting it from mv1080p preset options.

I expect the mcm rewired mode to be working but please also try the anamorphic mode. Dfort seemed to have disabled raw_slurp buffer so I assume this will cripple anamorphic resolutions. Please report what is working and not with these two modes. Not working is x3 toggle and focus aid.

Right, a little more stable but less resolution. Things were much simpler with just the basic crop_rec setting (720p buffer with 3x3 sampling).

switching x3 crop on/off causes white screen or lined screen forcing a couple of menu presses to resolve. No big deal...

Can't offer much in the way of anamorphic mode other than to say it does 'stretch' the image and everything else seems to work as above. I do not have anamorphic lenses to test.

Anamorphic mode is a different beast. No special lens is required but it will probably max out on resolution so maybe next step will be to test a build with raw_slurp enabled. BEst scenario will be if this would work for these two presets but I suspect maybe that is what´s causing the black screen between takes.

x3crop. I have not looked into any extras yet. If you´re lucky things will work but don´t expect anything besides bitdepth and ratios to fully work atm.

Yes. mcm rewired appears to be working fine. As best I can tell, the presets work with all the different ratios.

*Yes, this wasn't the case. When I merged your crop_rec into Dforts Build, the resolution was fine.
I shot a short video with the previous builds on the M2, never experienced the right borders. This was shot using MV_1080 Rewired, 16:9 (crop bars in post):

New Settings July 26 Build has a few problems:
- The resolution has gone down from 1736x956 to 1736x568 or somewhere around there.

Can´t remember but is resolution different in older build? Need a comparison file. Shouldn´t affect right borde though. Hm, Hard to work witout the camera. Word is out dfort is sending me his m2 to Sweden

No, the resolution is the same on yours and dforts. I said 1736x568 as a "guestimation" from memory. It's always been 1736x976. Congrats with the M2, it's a great mirrorless camera

I normally just use MCM rewire on the original m and am really impressed with it. I remember about a year ago, the aliasing on the EOS M looked like a candy shop.

The rest of the modes are a true bonus for a wide range of vintage lenses or if you want some more artistry in your footage.

Running in either mode (anamorphic or MCM rewire) the screen randomly goes black when stopping the recording. By randomly, I mean that it doesn't always do it. I would guess about 70% of the time. When it does happen, it requires a restart of the camera. No need to remove the battery. It appears that the recording is saved to the card despite the black screen.

I only tested in 16:9 and 2.35:1 with each preset

Occasionally, the bottom third of the screen will "blink" when starting a recording. Stopping the recording and a menu press or two gets it going again.

Almost all of the recordings contain flashing pink frames.
