Cinelog Luts served a purpose before the release of Resolve 12, because you needed them to convert from BMD Film to Cineon Log Alexa Wide Gamut. That's what Cinelog is essentially. Cineon Log Alexa Wide Gamut. With Resolve 12 you can now debayer straight into Cineon Log, or Arri LogC, etc. No need for clunky LUTs, at least for that part of the process. You're just compromising workflow and image quality. Plus the naming scheme is needlessly confusing.
Don't get me wrong, they were handy in previous versions of Resolve, but only because they were a work around. Now you can generate pretty much every LUT for free, when in fact you actually need to use one. It's a commercial product too, so ultimately the motivation behind it was revenue related, whereas everything else on these threads has been done for free.
