I am a teacher of technology. These days I spend all my time understanding the role of technology in the photography ecosystem which includes cameras at one end and tools like Photoshop and the internals of raw files at the other. I am deciding whether to purchase the G1 X and install CHDK or buy the 550 D or better and use ML. For me ML has come as a god sent opportunity to understand the internals of camera functionality. You guys would get my vote for the Nobel prize if I had a vote, which I unfortunetely not have.

What would in your view be the best EOS based camera to understand the functioning of cameras from the ML perspective as I plan to create lots of e-Learning material on the technology-Photography ecosystem.

The 550D is a really good camera to start experimenting with, as it's quite a cheap DSLR now (since it isn't the latest model) but still obtains superb results.
