Holy crap!
Worked.
Very cool. Should be in the first post for mac users. Nice one @masc

masc

 ;)
The only "bug" I can see, is that the program chrashes when changing the output folder. But when just rendering there is no problem. The output video file is then inside the .app package... so no real problem.

Nice!

@masc
You can actually change default output folder by editing "\data\settings.set" file. key "outputdir".
MLVProducer. p.s. sorry for my bad english.

masc

@AWPStar: thanks, that works!
@all Mac users: the line in the settings.set must be (just change "yourProfileName") if you like to output to your Desktop:
outputdir[/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/<yourProfileName>/Desktop]

@AWPStar: I always record with 25fps. In your Info-Tab this is also written. When I render, I have only 24fps. Is there a way to set that up?

Confirmed as well running MLVP on OS X via Wine. Thanks again @masc for your tips & pointers!

Now I just need to figure out how to keep it from crashing after changing the output directory for export destination. Thoughts?

@AWPStar: thanks. That works now! :)
@DeafEyeJedi: have you seen Post127 & Post128? Not perfect, but works...

@masc Great!
@DeafEyeJedi Thx for sharing!

I think, Wine does not support Dialogue box for folder selection.
Have you tried copy/paste path to the text field? It will just change path variable.
MLVProducer. p.s. sorry for my bad english.

masc

Copy/Paste to the text field works also. Do you use another library for the folder selection (we should install that too)? In other programs I use that makes no problem. Your file selection dialog (Import MLRAW under "file") works fine.

AWPStar

@masc I use winapi. same as file selection dialog. I'll try to figure out how to make it work.
MLVProducer. p.s. sorry for my bad english.

@AWPStar: some more information for you:
Clicking on the Output folder '...' button in the main gui:
The error is "Run-time error '91': Object variable or With block variable not set"
Clicking in the settings window on the '...' buttons brings:
The error is "Run-time error '445': Object doesn't support this action"

It may be a wine bug and not your fault. The web is full with such vb error messages using wine... but I can't see a real solution.

Great progress everyone on board...

Just woke up and wanted to give it another shot with MLVP and it's directory output for export... I think I'm doing something incorrectly and this is from copying and paste (from post 127 & 128) so please bear with my stupidness with Windows... It's been years since I had my last Dell... LOL

Hmmm?

masc

Oh... right... if you try that in the main window it chrashes too (when no mlv is opened).
Try it in the settings dialog, apply, restart program, that works for me.

so what is a good workflow when using a program like this? I usually do primary corrections (white balance, exposure,  noise reduction) to the DNG's in after effects then render to prores visionlog for editing, and final grading.

What colorspace and codec are you guys using with this program?

dpjpandone

Can you please explain lift vs. reconstruct vs. ultrafast vs. none? In previous version it said reconstruct was "best" but I have noticed that exposure seems more accurate when set to "lift" am I sacrificing quality by using that setting?

AWPStar

@dpjpandone
look at histogram

none no green channel correction
reconstruct shifts green channel down with reconstruction of highlights(in situation when green channel can be overexposed, but R and B not).
Lift Lifts R and B up to align channels. Image can be overexposed
ultrafast It's like reconstruct, but without green reconstruction. In whites you can get pink.

for the new versions.
I think i should not process HDR, because there is a lot things that user can do with it. Am i right?
But i want to process Dual-Iso. So i need to have more mlv-files with it.
MLVProducer. p.s. sorry for my bad english.

DeafEyeJedi

I'm afraid you're right regarding HDR. May be best to leave that alone. So many different workflows out there.

In regards to Dual-ISO -- do you still need more MLV's camera specifically wise?

thank you for your explanation regarding green channel. Can you please tell me which color space I should use for LUT's that expect LOG32 input? SLOG does not seem to work. So far I am getting good results with LUT's that expect Rec.709, but I am afraid that I am losing some information since Rec.709 limits lowest and highest values. Do you think the program will eventually support ACR camera profiles like visionlog? http://www.vision-color.com/visionlog/

AWPStar

@dpjpandone
What is LUT32 color space? Can you upload sample?
MLVProducer. p.s. sorry for my bad english.

DeafEyeJedi

There were some in the dropbox link I sent you earlier but need some newer ones I suppose?

AWPStar

@DeafEyeJedi
ye, there is one "M06-0954.MLV".
But i have to count many different situations, like overexposed, underexposed, aliased and different ISOs.
MLVProducer. p.s. sorry for my bad english.

dpjpandone

Log32 is just a log colorspace, here is a file that was converted to Visionlog in adobe camera raw and then rendered to prores:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ssnq2h36c7qslj/M15-1648_prores%204444_1728x724.mov?dl=0

I sent you some LUT's you can try.
