Hi,

i am a friend of astro-niederer, so some more additional informations from me. the camera get into the error 70 after a long astrophotography session on a high air humidity night. the problem my be occoured by the high humid, but we donßt know exactly.

we found this unbrick guide:
http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Unbricking

and we start to figure out the first solutions, but none work to get back to the canon menu:

-  try to boot without a card >> error 70
-  try to boot with a freshly formated card >> error 70
-  try to boot in any mode with the dial switch >> error 70

now we wan to try the next steps from the unbricking guide. but for this we need some help. it seems that this error happen some time on the 60D see here:
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=4105.0

a1ex seem to have a procedure to unbrick these cameras. if i understand right then there is a value stored that is not valid, so we have to change this value back or reset all settings by the canon menu and bypassing the assert handler.

Can you run the display test from here? http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=14732

If you boot with a ML card, do you get any error log?

I put the following files on my SD but the display shows still "Error 70". What could I do now?

Rename Autoexec.bin to Autoexec_ML.bin
Rename Autoexec(1).bin to Autoexec.bin
Insert card into cam.

Licaon_Kter

You should have renamed the OLD autoexec.bin from 2012 and THEN put the new one to test. Look at the dates, you got the files wrong.

Also, are you using a really old version from 2012??? Why? Get the latest and try it too: http://builds.magiclantern.fm/#/

/LE: Walter beat me to it :P

astro-niederer

Thank you for the replies. I changed the files and put the SD in the camera but nothing happened...

There is no FIR in nightly builds for 600D.

Licaon_Kter

Right, but it's not needed anyway? ( it will be placed there by the stable 2.3 install )

Walter Schulz

It's needed to set cam's bootflag.

astro-niederer

Do you have any other suggestions?

I have these two SD cards:

I thought bootable cards pointed south.

Hi,

i have the camera now. so it will go on here.
i testet the card with the display test autoexec.bin on my camera, but nothing happend. so i reformat the card, install ml on the card and setup on my running 600d. now the card is bootable with the display test autoexec.bin. if i now put it in my camera the display test start with closing the card door and display the test picture.

but on the error 70 600d nothing happens. any suggestions how i can go on?

thanks, markus

Do you have Canon firmware 1.0.2 http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer?pageKeyCode=prdAdvDetail&docId=0901e0248042d667 installed:o

Just a FYI. Didn't see a mention of it in the post so far.

Was ML installed on cam showing ERR70?

Remove battery, remove battery grip (if any) and reattach compartment lid. Remove lens. Startup cam. Err70 showing up?

mash.m

Hi,

yes firmware 1.0.2 is installed. yes, magic lantern was installed on this camera. yes, all removed and starup again, but still error 70.

markus

Walter Schulz

Just to be sure: Startup cam without lens attached.

mash.m

Yes, startup withount any extension. also without a lens.

Well, it's up to a1ex coming up with a verdict.

@mash.m: if the display test works, here's a ROM dumper based on the same code base:

autoexec.bin

I'll be offline for about one week. If my ROM dumper doesn't work, please ask g3gg0 to prepare one for you (he has a 600D).

Send me the ROM dumps by PM.

mash.m

Hi, the Display test does not work on this camera. But i ´m shure that the card with the displaytest autoexec work, cause i have one more 600d that start the test immediately if i close the cards door.
i think the rom dumper will also not work on this camera, but i try it this evening.

any more ideas?

thanks, markus

Have you ever used MagicLantern on this exact camera before this happend?
Too many Canon cameras.
