I was testing out RAW recording on my M1 today, latest nightly Apr.07 and having mlv_sound loaded and activated I got this.
- 1296302688 apr 11 19:07 M11-1906.MLV
-    7910444 apr 12 01:09 M11-1906.WAV
- 1855980128 apr 11 19:08 M11-1907.MLV
-         44 apr 12 01:18 M11-1907.WAV
- 1250427488 apr 11 19:09 M11-1909.MLV
-         44 apr 12 01:20 M11-1909.WAV
- 1283195488 apr 11 19:15 M11-1914.MLV
-    7833644 apr 12 01:21 M11-1914.WAV
- 2434007648 apr 11 19:18 M11-1916.MLV
-         44 apr 12 01:21 M11-1916.WAV
-  226767456 apr 11 19:20 M11-1920.MLV
-     652844 apr 12 01:22 M11-1920.WAV
- 1059738208 apr 11 19:21 M11-1921.MLV
-         44 apr 12 01:22 M11-1921.WAV
Where the first number is bytes size, so those 44 bytes WAV files means no sound.
The only error ( besides a huge freeze that got fixed by a battery pull ) was  "audio failed to stop, state 4" that I got several times, now that I think about it, it might coincide with those recordings that ended up soundless.

I got my MLVs processed with both latest mlvRAWviewer ( yields those 44bytes .WAV files ) and latest mlvfs ( yields big silent files ) so I guess it's not an extraction issue.

Any ideas?

That's Odd , Wave should be inside the MLV file.
Quote"audio failed to stop, state 4"
We use to get this error when Audio was first implemented back in Dec of 2013 at least on the 5D2
and then it was corrected by mid January 2014 I think something to do with T.C.

So it works only on the first video mostly, after that is just does not record anything until you restart the camera.
Retrying yields a red message according to /modules/mlv_snd/mlv_snd.c:231: "audio failed to stop, state 4" when pressing record at the end of the videos, retrying multiple times, say 3 or 4 will finally yield a message according to /modules/mlv_rec/mlv_rec.c:3226: "Threads failed to start".

I can repro this at will, see this video: https://mega.co.nz/#!cchR2TiJ!lG7s5q2cw4P2oQkd0GrZFuEtiMsXBEOLSEEbtgeBW58

Any ideas? Should I bother with a debug build like this: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=2388.msg113154#msg113154 ?

/LE: In the video the bars stop moving a bit after I enable them and just after RAW recording is enabled, SO even before starting to record ( look at ~1:54 ), hence a camera restart is needed.

Tested with 7D: No error.
Tested with 650D: Able to reproduce your error: Start MLV recording, stop MLV recording -> Sound bars dead.
But: Sound is in fact recorded if you ignore "dead" sound bars and after switching to Canon menu and back to ML menu they are working again.

Disclaimer: About to fall into sleep and user error may have occured.

So that's a step forward:
*Start ML sound bars move
*Start MLV RAW recording
*Sound bars move
*Stop MLV RAW recording
*Sound was recorded OK
*Sound bars don't move any more
*Open Canon Menu via MENU button ( don't change anything )
*Close Canon Menu via MENU button
*Sound bars start to move again
*Start MLV RAW recording
*Sound bars move
*Stop MLV RAW recording
*BUT sound was not recorded
*Sound bars don't move anymore
*Red "audio failed to stop, state 4" is displayed which brings me to the issue at hand :-|

2 errors? One for sound bars not working after leaving MLV. One for EOS M not recording.

Licaon_Kter

I guess:
1. sound bars stopping after the first recording but moving again by triggering the Canon MENU on and off
2. sound recording stopping after the first video recording and never recovering until a camera restart

Tested this again:
*record
*sound stop
*canon menu
*bars moving again
*record without sound and "audio failed to stop, state 4"
*retry
*"Threads failed to start"
*pressing record button doesn't work ( a 600 bytes MLV and eight 52 bytes M00..M08 files are created )
*invoking the Canon MENU stops the camera
