160MB/S vs 90MB/S CF card
« on: February 28, 2015, 02:57:27 AM »
I'm currently using a Sandisk 32GB 90Mb/S card on a 5D MII.

Could I see any benefits to using a 160MB/S card, like more FPS, audio, or stability using a 160MB/S ?

It's limited to the speed of record that each camera could support.

Take a look here to check the speeds: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=6215.0

A BIG Yes !!  :D  :) Read this link -->http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=11205.msg136460#msg136460
In fact It's highly commended to use a 1000x(150MB/s) CF card as the minimum specifications Card for Raw video.
First  paragraph, item number (4) "CF Card, 1000X recommended for Raw video" http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=11205.msg108929#msg108929
I Use 1000x = 150MB/s CF Cards & 1066x = 160MB/s Lexar . I also have a Sandisk 90MB/s but it limited (to slow for production work)
Ok for a few second at 1872x936 (or smaller)at best.
I have been using my 5d2 with Audio & HDMI Support (Zacuto EVF loop to Atomos Ninja HDMI hard drive recorder) for about a year now.
But Only with a 1000x CF Card!
On a regular basis I Record Raw Video 2.0 (MLV) 1872x936 @ 23.976 Continuous+Audio set to 44.1khz up to 12 min Safely on a 64GB card
*Note* I use older nightly build to get that large resolution not the latest.
