I am having a lot of problems.

I bought a 5d3 camera unable to upload firm. Finally could install ML  nightly fron february this year (using  5D3-113-bootflag.fir) .

I show this threath says done... but dont know where the solution is.

The camera says:

"Update file error. Please check the memory card and reload the battery and try again"

Thank you for helping

*Tryed from eos utility also.
*Tryed restoring to factory settings.
*I´ve got the 1.1.3 canon firm with ML nightly built. (there are some isues when installing, but it seems to work perfect)
and I want to update to canons 1.2.3. firm.
*If I directly put the canon .fir archive in the card it sends the error "unable Update file error. Please check the memory card and reload the battery and try again"

I want to install firm 1.2.3.and then magic lantern in the 1.2.3.

Just to be sure: Do you have file 5D300123.FIR in the root directory or the archive?

I format the card in both ways, in the camera and in the computer... same answer from camera.

Walter Schulz

"Yes" what? Do you have 5D300123.FIR in card's root or do you have an archive there?

darkvirus666

Sorry didnt undertood.
I have the .fir in the root.

darkvirus666

I triyed also puting the archive in the root and doing bootable card...But no way. Camera still says the same.

Walter Schulz

Archive is useless in card's root.
But I'm wondering why your cam works with a bootable card without ML contents. Please make a screen snapshot of your card's root directory, upload it somewhere and link it here.

This is my sd card, in this one I´ve got the ML

Remove SD, insert CF and try to run firmware update.

Well, this was expected. I hope a1ex will have time to work on this.

To my knowledge, the only reason a camera couldn't accept a Canon FIR is the card not being formatted from the camera.

darkvirus666

But it is... I think I´ve to go to the Canon service with camera.

Thank you so much to both for your time!
