repeating scan of the sensor during exposure?

Hello ML forum,

Great software btw. I was wondering if it would be possible to scan the image sensor during an exposure. Ideally save a new file every 1/5th of of the exposure so that I can take HDR pictures without having to wait longer for the shutter to open and close several times. Might even save some battery.

I don't know if it is possible because I don't know what scanning the sensor does to its state.

AFAIK, reading the sensor also destroys its contents...
