Camera froze while recording, can I repair the file?
« on: September 21, 2014, 04:04:34 AM »
Hi guys. I was recording with a Canon 50D and the camera suddenly froze, couldn't do anything but pull batteries. So on the card there's the movie file but I can't open it. It's a good 3gb file recorded which I am hoping I can retrieve and use, is there anyway to do that? Or that file is a goner?

Thanks!

Perhaps.  Were you recording MOV, RAW, or MLV?

I wrote a post about recovering h264 .mov from CF or SD cards
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=13250.msg127978#msg127978
battery died on my 5D2 before it could write the header, in the end saved a 4 GB h264.mov
and save the documentary ;D
