not getting 1920x1080

5D Mk 3
Shooting plain RAW 1920x1080 not MLV.
Using RAW Magic to convert to DNG and files then come out 1904x1064 - then at the bottom in Camera Raw it says they're 1820x1024.

What happened to 1920x1080?

There are so many factors that could be causing this that it's very difficult to diagnose without more info. I would check your settings in ML, including your aspect ratio, and the camera settings as well.

Settings in ML that might be of relevance are:

FPS Override   25
RAW video      ON, 1920x1080
Asp. Ratio       16:9
Card warm up 1GB
raw_rec          OK

At the bottom in Camera Raw where the size and other info like colour profile, file size etc readout are, when clicked - to make and save any changes made - there is an option in the drop down for 1920x1080 but why 1904x1064 in the first place and there are times when 1920x1080 is not an option in the drop down.
Surely, shooting 1920x1080 would keep everything that size throughout.

Could it be my card is too slow? Not sure how to read 5 min benchmarks to determine speed - is it the fastest write speed?

what raw converter are you using? post an example DNG

The problem seems to have sorted itself out for now - even though the DNG dimensions in the Finder are 1917x1076, when in Camera Raw, at the bottom it says 1920x1080.

But on another note -  why do they look ok when previewed in the Finder but pink in Camera Raw?

How do you attach a dng to a post?

Your DNG is not valid (exiftool can't change its tags) and has a wrong black level (problem introduced by the converter, not by ML).

Try another converter, for example mlv_dump, MlRawViewer or MLVFS.

MIRawViewer is a converter?
MLVFS is for MLV files only and also it appears to involve downloading OSXFuse which hasn't got great reviews.
mlv_dump (the one for OSX) won't open as it's a Microsoft thing.

What's wrong with using RawMagic on regular non-MLV RAW footage to convert to DNGs and then work on them in Camera Raw?

Okay, I'll bite.  What in the world does this mean?  Running mlv_dump on OS X requires some Microsoft library?  Or you can't run the OS X version of mlv_dump on Windows?  Regardless, since you're talking about RAW video and not MLV video, you should just use raw2dng.

If it works, nothing is wrong, but since you're apparently getting invalid DNGs, you should try other tools to try to isolate the problem.

Huh? Hasn't got great reviews? Please explain. It's just an open source framework. People don't usually write "reviews" of code frameworks, so I'm very curious as to where you found any reviews, much less "not great" ones.

As far as I'm concerned, FUSE is actually quite amazing and extremely powerful. Using it was my idea, and I've been developing on this framework without a single hitch. Also haven't seen any stability issues. So, what the heck are you talking about?

As a1ex stated, the black level is incorrect (1024) and the image shows up incorrect in ACR. However it looks fine in the Finder.
Also, in the Finder it shows up as being 1916x1076. This appears to be (somewhat) of a bug on Apple's part. The DNG spec recommends providing padding around the true "Active Area" of the DNG to avoid interpolation artifacts from demosaicing (see the warnings above). It appears that the Finder is ignoring the active area and forcing a padding to avoid interpolation artifacts. Of course, we want every pixel we can get so all raw video DNGs out of ML aren't going to sacrifice pixels for padding. Most DNG readers can handle there being no padding.

It works fine here and that has nothing to do with Microsoft.

My mistake - tried opening first item in download instead of the osx one - but not sure how to get it to open..."There is no application set to open the document "mlv_dump.osx".

It is a command line program, you don't just double click it to open it, you have to run it from the "Terminal". Information about command line usage/options are here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7122 . For a general tutorial on how to use a command line search google.
