Ive been trying to record any type of 1920x1080 raw video on this mark III and I can't get it to go past 4 seconds with out skipping frames and stopping "automagically".

I have and have tried:

Komputer Bay 128gb 1000x (which I know is bad news)
San Disk Expreme Pro 32gb 90mbs
SanDisk 64gb 160mbs (which I thought would be the one to work but does the same thing)

I'm new, but I've read a bunch of threads and just can't explain it.

Or the obvious problem was that I never switched it from 30fps to 23 or something lower. That's definitely the culprit right?

Yes, the frame rate is a big factor. Also, the KB card is probably too slow for that frame size/frame rate. I have a KB 128GB 1050x and on my 7D can't get continuous at 23.976 and 1792 x 1008.

The highest fps for 1920x1080 on my lexar 64 GB 1000x cards was 25fps. Any where above that and I'll get dropped frames.

Do note the larger capacity cards tend to be slower than the 64gb cards

Make sure that you set correctly image quality in the canon menu: raw only, no jpeg. This changes recording time a lot.

Yes all these notes were spot on, thank you everyone!

But just to ask again since there's no final answer I can seem to find:

What is THE BEST card to use? A 64gb by which company? Sandisk Extreme Pro?
