Hey all, long time listener, first time caller

I have a need to get some ML type functions working on an older body, the Rebel xTi.  I've been using my 60D and a tripod to catch some action with the motion detect function while I wander the racecourse with the Rebel.  But this is a poor use of resources since I'm sacrificing the better camera to just sit and click on cue

I've been playing with gphoto2 on both a Raspberry Pi A and an Odroid XU and - while intervalometer and other remote shooting works fine I am not sharp enough to script something  which takes the gphoto preview images and performs the same comparisons as ML to trigger a capture.

I read, I think, that some devs run python scripts commanding gphoto2 to test.  Can these same scripts run on a Linux box with tethered old-skool Rebels?

Thanks
