Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM lens didn't report focus distance

Sama as title, I can't figure out how to ser the Focus Distance and my 550D display this in the Focus menu of ML. I don't know whether the lens have problems or it is because of ML. Can anyone help?

Not all lenses report focus distance, so it might be possible that the particular lens you're using doesn't. Maybe someone else who uses this lens can check and let us know

But anyway it won't be of much use since just a few distances are set into the lens' CPU.
