Hello,

I've recently installed magic lantern and enabled raw mlv on my 7d. On my Mac I used mlrawviewer to produce the .dng of all the frames.

I would now like to import the dng into Light room, edit a frame, sync to the rest of the images and export. From there I will make an image sequence in final cut pro 7. This seems like it'll give me great quality and I'm familiar with editing photos in light room.

My first hurdle seems to be importing the dng into light room 3. This is the version of light room I have. It doesn't seem to recognize the .dng

Is there some way to add a profile for these dng? I have looked online but everything is obviously referencing newer versions of light room.

As always, thanks for your help.

Dave.

its important, your dng's have the according modelname in its metadata. is mlvviewer writing that? please link to the app.

I dont think thats going to work for you.

You'll need to find a way to change the compatibility of those DNGs. Adobe DNG standard is currently at version 8.4 and you're asking LR 3 a 3-4 year old program to open a current spec'd DNG. I'd guess this is what your problem is.

I've never tried but maybe you can run them through the Adobe DNG Convertor and change the Camera Raw profile back to something that was around when LR 3 was available. I know the Convertor lets you select old Camera Raw profiles but I don't know if it's accepts DNGs.

Thanks Stedda, that was a good idea.  I downloaded the latest version of Adobe DNG Convertor but it didn't run on OS X 10.6.8 so I had to download the previous version.  It even had a drop-down list that said which version of the DNG standard for my version of Lightroom.

Now I can import the .dng into lightroom and edit.
