Exif Module for Manual Lenses

I am unsing a lot of manual lenses. For thos of you who didn't know yet: You can get really really good glass from the pre-digital photography era for ridiculous small amounts of money. In most cases these lenses can be mounted on a digital slr by using an adapter. Metering through the lens works just as it does with modern lenses, but there is no communication between camera and lens. This means that no exif info from the lens is written to the file. This includes: Lens Name, f/Stop, focal length.

There are some semi-convenient solutions to add this information afterwards to the file. I know that ML settings like ISO and shutter speed are written in the exif. And therefore I was wondering if it would be possible to build a module which writes lens info to the exif.
This Module would need to have an option to enter Presets and choose between them when changing the lens.
For example: Lens Name: Helios-44M-4 58mm f/2
                      Focal length: 58mm
                      Maximum f/Number: 2
                      f/Stop: X

Is this possible? Can I write it by myself as a non coder? Can I ask for your help please? =)))

I also use many manual lenses, and sometimes it is hard to track wich one of the 50mm I have been using, especialy with video.

I use many old manual lenses also, 2 x 50mm, 2x135mm, 70-200mm. All give very good images.
And the best thing for video : much more precise for focusing, it can be 270° from minimum (closest) to maximum (infinite).
Yes, in the log file there is no information because no chip there 
The modern analog (I use Zeiss 50mm/1.4 also) it give the information.
It will be nice if there is information on the module/script which written on the log, and better again if it can be modified by user even if only A, B, C, D, etc (minimalist) it's enough to distinguish which lenses I use.
I will wait the progress/news, but even with the current condition I accepted it

I fully appreciate what you are asking for. You have a similar problem when using the twisted lens technique for time-lapses.

In this case, ie exposure EXIF data missing I use Lenstagger in Lightroom, http://www.essl.de/wp/software/lenstagger-lightroom-plugin/

As I say, a work around for a specific case.
