Just wanted to say hello as a newcomer to ML. I was extremely grateful to find a forum and would be grateful to get some help with an installation problem.

Firstly, can I say that I have actually looked through a good deal of the already posted questions, so as not to repeat a post. I know this must be tiresome for the mods (and any regular readers).

Secondly, I am in genuine awe of the whole ML idea. I have been using collodion for some time and sold my digital kit about 15 years ago to finance the move to collodion. As such, I am not someone who feels that ML is a `right` for photographers. I am starting at the bottom and would simply be grateful for some patient help to put me on the first rung.

I bought an EOS M and adapter to fit some of my old FDs to it. I`m really wanting to use the camera for video. As with all my second hand purchases, I updated the firmware before starting on any project. This seems to have been a mistake on the surface. I would be grateful for any advice on this. I installed firmware ver 2.03. It did install correctly but I have not been able to install ML as it seems that the links available are for EOS Ms with firm ver 2.02.  Is this an insurmountable issue? Is it safe to revert back to version 2.02? I cannot find such a link, or rather, I have found one but it does nothing.

Conversely, is there a link to a n updated version of ML that can deal with the firmware I have (ver 2.03)?

I have asked multiple people and have had zero replies so I`m guessing that it`s either a dumb question that those in the know are rolling their eyes at. Or, nobody knows the answer. I can`t believe the latter and I must not be the only person that is asking this.

I`m so hoping that this is not the end of the road for my new purchase.

Anyway, thank you for any help that anyone can give me.  Also, a genuine thank you for the developers of this incredible gift to those of us that love creativity and the feel of an older camera.

There is an *older* ML custom build for firmware version 2.0.3.
If you intend to use RAW/MLV recording you are better off with 2.0.2 and more advanced custom builds by Bilal and Danne.

That`s incredibly helpful. Thanks.

I wonder if you know whether it`s `safe` to revert back to 2.02? I can`t find a working link to a backdate on the firmware.

I`m cursing myself for upgrading before reading up more. This site literally mentions that 2.03 is still being developed. As I`d like to use RAW recording, as you correctly surmise, I`d rather revert back (if that won`t damage the camera). Otherwise...I dunno... :-\

https://magiclantern.fm -> Downloads -> Nightly builds -> EOS M -> linked in "Installation" and "Useful Links" or use https://eoscard.pel.hu firmware repository.

Jees, that looks very promising. I will have a go at that.

Really appreciate your help.

Kind regards
