I don't feel like I really have any reason to want or need the latest nightly build or extra risks or headache it may cause. So what should I download and try on my 6D for just basic intervalometer functions, etc.???

And is there a simple installation guide at all?

Forums throughout the internet all point to some sort of installation guide for the 6d that gives a 404 type thing (or I "dont have permission")

Feeling awfully frustrated
Thanks!

You have two options: the latest nightly build or an older nightly build that will have more problems and bugs that have since been fixed.

i imagine it will be awhile before there is any kind of "stable" build for the 6d.  I have been using the nightlies (haven't updated in a week though) and have not ran into any problems.

I have been using the ETTR, Dual-ISO, Intervalometer, Exposure Bracketing, and Image Ghosting.  Those features have all worked fine for me.  I cannot attest to all the other features.
