Is there a chance to get sound recorder back?

Is there a chance it will be back soon?

I wouldn't ask if I'd be able to fix it myself :-)  Unfortunately my coding skills are near zero. But I found this a very useful feature and I'd be grateful if I knew someone worked on it...

I have a patch for re-enabling it. Attaching.

It compiles with this, but I haven't had a chance to fully test it, so YMMV.
