Hello guys,

on monday i am going to pick up brand new Canon 5D Mark III. And of course the first thing i am going to do, is to install ML :D

Before i do, i want to buy one or two CF Cards. I will definitely buy the fastest ones available, but i still dont know the truth about the size of Raw Full HD clip 30 fps or even 60fps per second or minute. I would like to buy 2 x 32GB CF cards for a start, but is 32GB enough?

Can someone help me create some smart table about sizes or data rates of recorded clips?

Feel free to help me fill the "table" i pre-created below:

1920x1080 30fps
1 minute = ___  (4GB?)

1920x1080 60fps
1 minute = ___  (8GB?)

1280x720 30fps
1 minute = ___  (2GB?)

1280x720 60fps
1 minute = ___  (4GB?)

Thanks a lot!

it's just uncompressed 14 bit data (14 bits for each pixel), it's very easy to do the math:

size (in bytes) = width * height * 14 / 8 * time (in seconds) * FPS

to get MB, divide by 2^20

(MLV will be slightly larger b/c it has some extra metadata, but it will be negligible difference)

WoW, you truly are a Hero Member :D  Thanks a lot.

So i was following your epic mathematical formula and the results i came to are these:
(Can you please verify that my results are right?)

1920x1080 25fps 8bit and 60 seconds
24883200000 bytes (divided by 2^20) = 23 730,46.. MB ?

1920x1080 60fps 8bit and 60 seconds
59719680000 bytes (divided by 2^20) = 56 953,12.. MB ?

Sanity check: 56953 MByte/60 s -> about 1000 MByte/s ...

:o So what is the real truth then?
