Hi guys,

I'm reading from a lot of posts that the Lexar 1000 is the best choice for raw. However, based on the speed specs needed for a memory card doing raw video, I was wondering if my current cards can handle raw video.

Thank you,

I've tried the KomputerBay 128gb 1050x card that bench marks at about 92mb/sec with Global draw on. I could record 1080p RAW 24p with sound on a 5d3 for about 4-8gbs and it was kind of "iffy" with reliability, because of the data rate. When it was recording i never saw the data rate jump above 95mb/sec while recording.

I recently got a KomputerBay 64gb 1000x card and it bench marks at almost 100mb/sec and records continuously till the card fills up with sound 1080p 24p. Its very reliable in terms of being confident that the card Will not skip frames.

I'm sure the Lexar  64gb 1000x cards are just as good or "better" but I'm not sure how much better for the price difference.

And if you are worried about reliability of the card... The customer service at Komputerbay is awesome and the cards are lifetime warranty. I'm sure some people have had cards fail.. but that could happen with any brand since you are pushing the limits of the cards and your camera.  My card was barely "warm" after recording 60gb of raw straight.

All that said.. If the 90mb/sec card maxes out at that. I'm sure you can record short 10-20 sec clips for B-roll, but I wouldnt try to take anything on a paid gig unless i knew it was going to not skip frames 99.9% of the time.
