Hi guys,

Couple months back I was on the forums and got a bit scared to try Raw on my 5d mk2 because I was seeing posts about people bricking their cameras. Has anything changed? I can't find those posts anymore. maybe I'm looking in the wrong section?

Also, I'm wondering if my memory card can handle raw? It's a Sandisk  Extreme Pro CF 90mb/sec

Thanks!

Never heard of such a thing and I'm on here daily for years now.

Anytime I've seen people have problems was because they couldn't follow simple instructions or read.

They few legit issues were hardware failures unrelated to ML.

Maybe because they never existed? I don't think a single camera has ever been "bricked" since ML has been available, yet it's amazing how misinformation about it is alive and well.

Exactly! Even popular Filmmakers on Youtube etc. keep saying that they dont use ML since they know a Guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who bricked his camera. Total BS

Its the internet, things are repeated until they become true.

If anything, they probably told a friend, who told a friend, who told a friend etc... that they tried to do something and the camera froze... seemingly "bricking" the camera... But... just take the battery out and put it back in and its back on.

Or take battery and SD card with ML out and then put the battery in and its stock.

Ps. I'm not responsible for your hardware if you brick it using ML.. and neither are they. ;-) With that said.. I don't know if they have anything released to public that could do so.

As for this part of the question, I've been using one fairly successfully, up to resolutions that write about 58-60mb/sec and can go continuous until the card is full.  I also have a KomputerBay 1000x card that can push the Mark II a little bit further, but not too much.

I see some of you are saying you did this with the Mark 3. Are you guys saying that you haven't been hearing people talk about bricking the Mark 2 as well? Just trying to get clarification before I go ahead.

Thanks!

It seems I've offended you guys. Guess I will leave.

As we all know, alot of people claim to know that ML bricks cameras like americans eat cheeseburgers.
Kudos to mrd777 for actually doing the best possible research: asking the people involved in the project.
