I have a 6d myself, i have already tried shoot by sandisk 90mb/s sd card, but the 6d sd card slot won't let me shoot 1080p raw video.

I prepare to borrow a 5D3 from my friend, but the problem is he doesn't has a CF card that fast enough to shoot raw video, so i am going to buy one myself.
I plan to buy a sandisk 600x CF card, but i saw some people said that 600x card is not fast enough to shoot 1080p raw video, is this true? How about 800x?

please answer me or email me, that will be very helpful!
thanks!

Think 1000x is minimum. Search for cards. Lots of testing. I use transcend both 64 and 128gb 1000x. Works for me

800X might work, big emphasis on might.

Try it out, ideally with Global Draw off. 1080p needs 83Mb/Sec write speed, so maybe that card might be ok...but ideally you want to get your hands on some 1000X cards.

I'm a little confused about how the cards are labeled. Some of them are labeled like "1000x", and others are labeled in MB/s. You say that 1000x would work for 83Mb/sec, but it would seem like cards that are labeled 120 MB/s would work much better than. Do you know how 1000x would translate to MB/sec?

800x is slow for the higher resolutions. The "minimum" requirement for raw at its current state of development is 1000X. I'm sure of this for the mkII, mkIII and 7D.

To add to the confusion the 128GB 1000x Komputerbay is not up to the job. So, only 1000x is not the criteria also depends the card make. 64gb 1000x kb cards are okay though.

Started Nuke. Loved it but then the 15 day trial ran out. Back to After Effects and loving it :-)

This is correct. The KB 128gig 1000x is indeed a bit slower than the 64gig version. They used different chips as well as firmware for these cf cards.

Sandisk makes a 120mb card, referring to readspeed. However, writespeed is only about 60mb/s on that card. You want a card with writespeeds that goes around 100mb/s. Personally I recommend transcend 1000x cards. I Have a 128gb which works perfect. It states going up to 120mb/s writespeed.

danne,

what camera are you using the 128gig transcend on?

A 5d mark 3. Havn, t tried it on a 5d mark 2.
My 128 is actually a bit faster than my transcend 64gb 1000x. Both cards records 25fps 1920x1080

Thanks danne,
I was hoping you have a mkII and its running. I've been planning to get more cards and the one you have is one of my options.

I googled the 128gb 1000x transcend before buying and someone reports it as slower. Mine is smooth as butter and really fast. The cards also very tolerant to all my different readers. Had other cards which got corrupt either in camera or in readers before. Transcends still lasts though, never failed.

I have the 32gb lexar 1000x works a breeze at 1920x1080. The 128gb 1000x Komputerbay is not reliable though at the 1920x1080 frame size. Lexar is my first choice.

Those transcend 128GB cards look nice. Pretty high price tag on them, but I suppose you get what you pay for. It has the movie slate icon with a 20 in it, and so does the SanDisk 120MB/sec card. But the SanDisk says it has a write speed of only 60 MB/sec while the Transcend says write speeds of 120 MB/sec.

Danne, how much video do you get on that 128 GB card shooting at 1920x1080? Do you have just one card? I'm wondering if it would be better to get two 64GB cards so if I am on a shoot and want to transfer footage while I'm shooting on another card it might be handy to have two going.

Does it matter what card reader you use it with?

Danne

I paid about 430 dollars here in sweden for min 128gb transcend.
I have a 3.0 usb reader lexar.
I think you get around 30minutes recording time
