General Help Q&A / Canon M50 6k Raw video for real? If so, which build? Tutorial?
« Last post by dsobieralski on February 19, 2021, 03:58:12 PM »
Greetings,

I am a new Canon user (I own a Sony Nex 6 and have owned a Nikon D3200 in the past).  I was doing some research online and I saw that ML has unlocked 6K Raw capability out of the M50.  I have a M50, but when I go to downloads, I don't see a specific build for it.  I got the info from: https://www.eoshd.com/news/canon-m50-hacked-features-6k-raw-and-a-i-driven-menus/

Is there a tutorial for this, or can anyone walk me through it as I am VERY interested? I looked in the tutorial section but I didn't se anything specific for the M50.  Did I miss something? I don't want to brick the camera.  I am fairly knowledgeable on flashing firmwares etc, but I want to make sure that I get the steps right.

Can anyone confirm/deny/assist?

General Help Q&A / Re: RAW file extension
« Last post by Walter Schulz on February 19, 2021, 12:08:18 PM »
*.MLV
If file splitting/chunking is necessary concecutive files will get named *.M00, *.M01, ...

And because MLV is a native ML format unknown to most other software you have to use tools like MLVapp or others found in RAW video processing sub-forum https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?board=54 to convert to compatible formats like DNG.

General Help Q&A / RAW file extension
« Last post by Isabella B. on February 19, 2021, 12:03:12 PM »
Hi,

While using ML in Canon cameras, in which file extension is recorded for RAW mode? And does file extension further needs to be transcode  or it can be used smoothly in any editing software?

Not quite. 5D (classic) preceeds 40D. https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=1010.0

Lots of work went into this I'm sure - well done.  I think this is the oldest supported cam?  You are now a record holder :)

Scripting Q&A / Re: Extra delay script for intervalometer

@surami

One thought, that I haven’t tested, and @a1ex may say won’t work is that you dynamically change the intervalometer settings via the event functional call, ie use a menu.set call to change the take a picture every value to whatever number you want, ie as your TL progresses.

Of course a1ex may say this won’t work, but it’s a thought, unless resetting the take a picture every value resets things.

BTW, when used together with intervalometer, AutoETTR will limit its maximum exposure time to intervalometer delay minus 2 seconds. This is in the AutoETTR help text, but only appears when you enable both options. This change was merged into mainline in early 2017.

In other words, your idea of taking a picture every 5 seconds, and extending the exposure time to 32 seconds when it gets dark, will not work out of the box - the only way would be to write a custom intervalometer script in Lua.

That's not so good news for me now, so I have to use an older ML build in this case. I don't have enough coding knowledge to write a custom intervalometer script in Lua.
