Fantastic! Thank you, a1ex!

Could someone please post a zipped archive of the help files -- even if it's from the outdated, now-removed "stable" releases?

I'm looking to get a bit more insight into Magic Lantern's features, and it would be nice to have this information directly on my camera in case I'm out somewhere and need some reading material.  :)

FWIW, I am using the 5D MK II experimental build. As expected, the help files are not in this build, nor in the currently-posted nightly build.

Thank you!

What preview mode are you using ?
remember this is bleeding edge stuff , sometimes things that
normally work on the nightly builds don't always work on bleeding edge stuff .
crop_rec is only meant to record extended resolutions in 3x crop_mode (5x zoom)
and not to be used with the regular nightly build feature set .
Meaning 10x zoom freezes the camera .

I expect to have normal canon previews in future releases of the crop_rec  in 3x crop_mode (5x Zoom)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by preview mode -- I'm in manual mode in Live View. Could you explain?

Hi reddeercity and guys,

I've made some quick test with experimental release. Followed the steps from p1. I'm facing these issues.

- 5x mode is magenta, when recording turns grayscale, yet crop factor is irrelevant to what it records
- when pressing to 10x mode camera freezes

I'm a new 5D mk II user and I'm seeing this too. IIRC 10x mode doesn't always freeze, but I consistently have a very pink 5x mode.

Thanks for the info, littlebobbytables and IDA_ML.

I should have provided one additional important bit of information in my original question: I'd like to record 1920x1080 at 24 FPS with a 16:9 aspect ratio. IDA_ML, when you say the EOS 7D can record at 2496x1196/10 bit/24 fps with sound...what is the aspect ratio? Can the aspect ratio be picked independently of the pixel resolution?

I also have some follow-up questions:

1) What is "crop mode" or "crop factor"?
2) When you mention the Canon 7D, you mean the Canon 7D -- NOT the Canon 7D MK II, correct? (It doesn't appear that the 7D MK II is supported by Magic Lantern.)
3) What's the highest RAW resolution that the 5D MK II can do with sound?

FWIW, I may have narrowed down my choices to the 5D MK II and the 7D, so I'm interested in learning the pros and cons of each.

I have a Canon Rebel xSi and am looking to upgrade to a camera that can run Magic Lantern and record RAW video. Ideally, I would like to upgrade to a camera which can record at least 1920x1080 RAW video at 24 fps. The frame rate does not need to be higher than 24 FPS, but it's OK if the resolution is greater than 1920x1080.

I've been researching Magic Lantern and its compatible cameras for a few weeks and haven't been able to nail down exactly which cameras are capable of this. The best that I could find is this spreadsheet, which is presumably out of date.

My first question is, which cameras with Magic Lantern can record 1920x1080 (or higher) RAW video at 24 fps?

As of right now, I've only been able to confirm that the 5D Mark III that can record at that resolution/frame rate. On eBay, I see a huge price difference between a used 5D Mark III and the other ML-compatible cameras. The difference is so great that I may consider getting a camera that has almost a 1920x1080 resolution but can run at 24 FPS. So my second question is, if you were to pick a non-5D Mark III camera that is as close to my desired specs as possible, which one would you pick, and why?
