I have an update from my 3K mode trouble:
- Problem: Can't record 3K mode with cardspanning (+overclocking) + 10 or 12bit, only 14bit lossless.
- Here is what happens: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ABS7sbXXXDIjMHNzeFNeAr9lBh2Lj_3z?usp=sharing

I tested so many tests the last days. many combination of settings and installation (only CF, only SD and both).
And now i found a way, that it's works:

Quotedefault settings (fresh install, or fresh ML files/ without config) + cardspanning + without SD overclocking + 10/12 bit.
-> working and with 10bit continuous with live view or 12 bit without.

Trouble:
- if i set SD overclocking (160mhz) ->failed
- if i set in Overlay: Histogram, Waveform and Zebras (raw), with or without kill global draw ->failed
- but, if i set in Overlay: Histogram and Waveform (without zebras) and kill global draw -> working

in summary: -> only working without SD overclocking!
- If i want liveview i need to disable Zebras, Histogram and Waveform manually (not possible to simply disable global draw)
- If i want without liveview i need to disable Zebras manually (not possible to simply disable global draw or kill global draw)

-> The frustrating things is: this is only happens in 3K mode. In all other modes, i can use SD overclocking and Overlays.

------------------------------
I also tested Benchmark with your SD overclocking module:

i tested step by step from your discription! (only SD, photo mod, benchmark -> picture -> 2. benchmark)
I used a SanDisk Extreme Pro 170MB/s 128GB

without overclocking -> working (logical)

160mhz -> working (logical)

192mhz -> write ~80, read ~87 (both tests works surprisingly)
->
240mhz -> failed (5000mb...) at 1. and 2. test

so, back to 192mhz ->failed, and everytime...

The test is probably not that reliable...

@Danne
Maybe this helps a little bit

Interestingly.
How long you have recorded? Mostly it happenes in the first 45sec. Sometimes it is depending on what you film (how fast it happens).

I used a SanDisk Extreme Pro 170MB/s 128GB and a Komputerbay Prof. 128GB 1066x.

I set kill global draw and I tested as well with standard settings. I change ratio because of the error, so no difference. I tested 2.39:1 at 10bit - at the last resolution (2848) it works, but with 3072 not. The same without SD overclocking and the same without audio and the same without fine tuning. This all is only happens in 3K mode with Cardspanning.

Here is a short video and the error file from the 3K mode test:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ABS7sbXXXDIjMHNzeFNeAr9lBh2Lj_3z?usp=sharing

I get this error only if i use 10 or 12 bit lossless, not with 14bit lossless. The resolution is not important, i use this resolution for 14bit lossless (filezise analyse says 125 up to 130MB/s -> correct writespeed). So this is the limit for continuosly record at 14bit lossless and AR 16:9.

The error comes sometimes immediately and sometimes after 30sec.
#55
Movie, bitdepth, 8bit, 9bit, 10bit, 12bit- > only with 3K mode I have the errors.
#56
Not in dropbdown menu. I mean the 10  or 12bit lossless (14bit lossless tweaking). Do you need a small video with this error?

@has_abandonment_issu

Which Mode do you use, resolution, bit...

because I have some trouble with 3K mode:
Interestingly I found out, that this mode + Cardspanning + overclocking only works with 14bit lossless continuously. If I set the same settings (AR 16:9, 2848x1602 at 14bit lossless works continously on all condition, without global draw) and change it to 10 or 12 bit - > compression error bla bla bla, everytime.

@Danne
Any Idea?

@has_abandonment_issu

This is a knowing issue. Try low level format in Camera (SD card) and have fun ;)

@Grognard

Not really , the showing writespeed is incorrect in other modes. See this test:

QuoteI am noticing differing (but consistent) speeds using different presets...
https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=12862.msg228848#msg228848

Global draw needs extra resources, so it slow down the maximum writespeed.
maximum speed with Cardspanning and overclocking for now is BTW. 131MB/s (Nobody knows why). - > without global draw

Edit: also it looks to me like the recording rate estimation is using 14bit raw recording in it's calculation, even though the files are in 12bit, giving a larger estimate than actual. Is this true?
Yes, it shows 14bit lossless - > set in drop down menu. This is because the settings for 12,10bit... Is just a tweaking from 14bit lossless. You can check the white and blacklevel in MLVapp.

What happens if you using SD overclocking?

Quotegreat quality! what is sharp lens did you use there?

Meike 85mm EF 1:1.8

It's a really cheap lens, realy sharp, but have some trouble: According to the manufacturer, not waterproof, and I don't know why, If I change between AF and MF the aperture closed a bit every time if I changed. I need to set to f1.8 and back to what I want. There is a USB-c port for software update, but no newer software out there.
P. S.: I paid 110€ on ebay (new lens).

Here is a shortend MLV with both modes.

#62
Hm.. I think I give it a second chance and try it out with sharpening after the first export. Maybe tomorrow.
#63
@masc
cDNG export from MLVapp and using ACR for sharpening with After Effects. -> so it is after ;)  or not?

I already tested the Anamorphic mode compared with 1x1 mode a month ago.

I use a sharp lens, same focus and spot, high detailed shoot, same sharpening in post. Comparism with 5,4K Anamorphic and 3,5K 1x1 (with a text write failure in the Titel). You can see it easily on the crop factor, first 3.5, second 5.4K Anamorphic and again.

I get a headpain if I see the Anamorphic mode, compared with the 1x1 mode, especially if I try to read the text on the vehicle.
For me the Anamorphic mode is only a big deal with a wide open shoot (not so much detailes) in comparism with 1x1 modes. Or with less sharpening like masc ;)
#65
@Wlad81
What settings are you use? Bit depth, fps, are you testing without global draw?
Is 5.4K anamorphic working (23.976fps) without card spanning? - > for me up to 14 bit continues.
Maybe fake CF card? Try UHD mode at 10 bit, 3840x1536, 23,976fps, with card spanning and global draw to off - > writespeed is up to 131mb/s possible with both cards, you can see the speed while recording.
#66
I am not a programmer and unfortunately I already thought that it would not work...
#67
@Wlat81
Jul15 is the newest.

Simply set aspect Ratio to off and you will have the full 1920 = 5760. ;)
#68
@Danne
Is it possible to make a 2x2 Preset like 2880x1620 (16:9) or better a 1x2 Preset like 2880x1920 (2.5:1) = 5760x1920, or is this still impossible?
#69
@Wlad81

Both versions are stable, but...
Quote(...) Firmware 1.2.3 is required if need any of those features from Canon:

    clean HDMI out
    dual monitor support (internal+external)
    AF at f/8 with teleconverters

If you don't need anything from the above list, please consider downgrading to 1.1.3. (...)

Card spanning :
ML menu, Movie, press q on Raw video and enable card spanning. And have fun.
#70
Very nice!
Is it now possible with 5.6K Build too?
#71
I'm not sure, I don't have this camera, but I think this is the native iso range limit for this camera (100-1600). All iso value above 1600 in Camera is not native, it is nearly the same, if you set the exposure in post, but you decrease the dynamic range.

This camera is not a low light camera. You need a better F-stop number, maybe lower shutterspeed or simply more light.

But if you want this value, you need to change this in Canon menu, you can enable higher iso range.
#72
Ok. Here are some short tests:

Full res. 5784x3254 7,4fps 10bit
CF: 105 42% idle
SD: 65 12%idle
=170MB/s
-> 1600 (cf 830, sd 768), 102 frames =~14sec
1600/14 =114mb/s

CF: 70,4, 2% idle
SD: 50,4 6% idle
=120,8MB/s
-> 2791 (cf 1619, sd 1172), 558 frames =~23sec
2791/23 =121,3mb/s

4K half 4096x2304 11,988fps 10bit
CF: 108   22% idle
SD: 61,5 80% idle
=169,5MB/s
-> 1531 (cf 1340, sd 197), 191 frames =~16sec

CF: 90 30% idle
SD: 53 50% idle
=143MB/s
-> 1271 (cf 910, sd 361), 334 frames =~14sec
1271/14 =90,7mb/s

Anamorphic 1808x2300 23,976fps 14bit
CF: 77 15% idle
SD: 53 20% idle
=130MB/s
-> 1714 (cf 991, sd 723), 388 frames =~16sec
1714/16 =107mb/s
#73
OK, I checked it out:
~1600mb (cf 830, sd 768), 102
frames =~14sec
1600/14 =114mb/s :(
#74
OK I think this is a failure:
3840x1440 x 23,976fps = ~130 mega pixel
5784x3254 x 7,4fps = ~140 mega pixel

I need ~125mb/s for 4K at 10bit, so 170mb/s is not correct I think.
#75
Because of the 131mb/s writespeed limit, I tested just for fun the full resolution mode (5d3, 5784x3254 7,4fps at 10bit) with card spanning and the 160mhz module.

writspeed:
CF: 105MB/s, 42% idle
SD: 65MB/s, 12% idle

=170MB/s with green icon ;)
