Nice idea. I have 600d and 100mm macro as well. Very nice combo.
I'll add some gear later.

Hi Scrax,

I'm not very pleased with my whole avisynth workflow. It's not very easy to setup and the results are not very usable. Only 720@50p to 720@25p looks somewhat ok. Though resolution is a big problem. The fusion2 plugin does work but has a harsh cut between both exposures and crushed blacks.

For Mac OSX users I'd recommend the free Final Cut Pro X plugin from alex4d.

Results are just way better.

Same goes for Ginger HDR with so much control over the endresult. And I haven't tested the free merger yet.

Forum and Website / Re: site width

Hi,

We had it fixed 1200 because film makers have large screens and can handle that. But we also wanted support for ipad so made it flexible to 1000px. Except for the frontpage slider and the chosen video size in the cinema it adapts ok. We'll try to fix that later.
When it was 1200 it looked fine zooming 1,2 steps down to 1024 due to the font size. That is also an option.

I'm very interested in the site experience especially tablet users.

Hi Scrax,

I'll try to make a list of fresh project initiatives and add that to the community list. The links there point to the right threads in the forum. I'm not changing to much on the site until we know if it will hold the amount of visitors and keep a decent webexperience.

Nice observation. For deep focus shots I use 2 options. One is timelapse (HDR when sun is in the shots). With moving people I use the Sony HX9v. Wide video on my Canon 600d and my current lensset doesn't look good. Mixing superdetailed timelapse footage with 600d softy video is not a good idea. Small chip videocameras do way better when shallow DOF doesn't matter.  So I use the best of both.
I also used the HX9v for the wildlife shots. With a tiny suction cup ball head on the window of the car. The camera has a great stabilizer and 16x zoom. The autoexposure is ok for horizontal movement, but vertically it makes all kind of exposure switches. And you can operate it with more people in the car and still keep the experience pleasant for everyone. Moving with a big dslr and lens is just not an option for a pricy savanna trip.

Thanks we've never done anything close to this before and hope the site will hold.

General Chat / POLL: What model to work on next?
June 14, 2012, 04:58:20 PM
In the next few weeks we will ask our visitors on what tasks we should prioritize.
We have limited development capacity and we let the community decide which route we should go next.

First we'd like to know what next camera to add to the Magic Lantern tree?

You can Vote on the download page.

Here is a promotion video I made for the Mara Eden Safari camp. There is a nice HDR timelapse in it.

Well done Francis. Over what timeperiod is this recorded? I see I slight flickering. You can smooth it somewhat more with a deflicker filter in virtualdub or something.
