I had some spare time before a photoshoot in Brighton and decided to play around with some Magic Lantern 3K. I shot at 3008 x 1536 in 24p. I used the Footage app for Mac and applied a S-Log3 preset. Exported to Prores 444 and edited in Premiere Pro.

This week I toyed around with buying a Canon 1DC but there is something still special about the 5D Mark III with ML.

what build did you use? I can't see that resolution in the latest ones.

hey guys, in the first post there is tutorial showing how to record continuously at 3072x1308  2:35:1 12 Bit, however in the last builds there is no longer that resolution. It now shows ...2240,2560,2880,3200,3520, what's the one to be used for 3K continuously with sound?

On a side note, when I try to enable the mlv_play.mo and already have the crop_rec, mlv_rec and mlv_sound ML crashes at the start. (crop_rec_4k.2018Feb24) "error: undefined symbol 'lossless_decompress_raw" E. failed to link modules.

thank you.

Read the subject line.  ::)

I thought it could be one of the  M2, M3, M10, M6 or M50, looks like its just the "M" one.

which camera did you shoot this on?

I'm using 5D3 1.1.3 running magiclantern-Nightly.2018May01.5D3113 with 64Gb Lexar 160MB/s and a Kamerar 256GB card.

I was recording fine until It seems I ran out of battery, switched battery and couldn't never record more than 3 frames. at first I thought it was something related to the free space of the card, I formatted them both and cleaned up space in the SD as well. Same thing I couldn't record any more than 3 frames and it stops.

besides that I've just created 3 lua scripts to switch between recording modes, other than that It was working OK.

could it be ML files got corrupted? I even turned on/off the camera several times including removing the battery.

Another weird thing I saw was the "Remaining Storage space" in the top right corner for both cards shows 15GB (both cards formatted exFat)

hey guys, I have been using for a long time the stable build recording 1080p with sound for long time and post processing with the latest MLVFS without any issues.

Today I'm testing the last build crop_rec4k.2018Mar10 with mlv_lite and mlv_snd to try  to record 3.5K with sound, It records fine but when I post process the image I see no sound at all. So think it's because the version of MLVFS I have is no longer able to grab the data from the latest files.

is there any new version or patch I can install for OSX to keep using MLVFS?

good stuff, keep at it!
#9
looks like the audio is out of sync.
#10
what resolution did you record to? the last shoot looks a bit noisy to my taste but it blends pretty good with the theme.
#11
nice colors! I think the the music is a bit off sync of the singer.

Modules Development / Re: Full-resolution silent pictures
December 06, 2017, 01:08:11 AM
I realize the talk is way over technical but been trying to get full res silent pictures for awhile using the crop_rec module on the 5dmk3 and haven't been able to get the settings right:

Manual Mode: shutter 400, f/4.0, iso 8000. Back button focus enabled with the *
Live view Mode
Silent Pictures Enabled: Burst MLV
Crop mode: 3.5K 1:! centered 5x
shoot preferences: off

When I half press the shutter I only get 1932x1290 pictures. I'm pretty sure my settings aint right, would somebody please point me on the right direction?

thank you

I'm using an EOS 700D with Magic Lantern for video. The main features I use from ML are the audio level meter, magic zoom for live focus checking, and advanced histograms.

I've recently been looking into using DSLR Controller with a portable Wi-Fi router, so I can control the camera remotely from an Android device.

Had anyone tried using the two together? I understand it's not possible to use the ML features while viewing remotely with DSLR Controller. But does the camera still work while using both - does it still show ML on the camera itself?

Alternatively, can the features I mentioned be used remotely in DSLR Controller with the EOS 700D, so I wouldn't need ML at all?
I've used DSLR controller with ML. in the Android device you will always see the controller app. in the camera ML with all its features.

I assume you're using Premiere. The only thing I can suggest is to check out MLVFS for Windows http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=13152.0 but it wont shorten your workflow in steps, it may be faster converting the DNGs though, you may want to check it out.

This is really nice, can you describe your postproduction workflow? did you create a 4K timeline and then just stretched it out?

This is for 5D3 fir 113
Oh wait sorry I'm not sure if this version records sound. I missed that you needed that.
I think you have to compile it if you want sound.

hey @hjfilmspeed is there any thread which shows how to compile a module? I'm looking for sound on the crop rec as well, happy to test out.  cheers.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer
July 15, 2017, 03:53:55 AM
I'm running mlvp.alpha.build2722.INTEL on OSX 10.10 and after correcting a short 2 minute 1920x1080-24FPS footage and trying to export as ProRes 444 FAST it process it until 99% and  doesn't finish. it leaves the wav and the mov files in the output directory and doesn't complete the task, the application seems to freeze out.

any suggestions?

Hi guys I wanna begin with MLVFS WORKFLOW in macbook pro, I used after effects and my macbook pro have ati radeon and cudda is not compatible, anybody haved experience with final cut in MLV workflow?, probably in the future i can make a test and share!, thank you!!

1) Download it, double click on the file it will install as service.
2) You can either copy the RAW files from your camera to the Mac or keep them in the camera (slower)
3) right click on the directory you have the MLV (RAW) files (on step 2)
4) Create or use an empty directory whenever you want (movies, downloads, anywhere.)
5) In the menu, go to the end SERVICES > MVLFS and it will ask you to SELECT a "mount point" choose the directory you create or use on STEP 4
6) It will open a browser window with options and current status of the process, once completed go to the DIRECTORY on STEP 4, there you have your usable files. you can now open them with "MlRawViewer.app" (https://bitbucket.org/baldand/mlrawviewer/downloads/) you can use any other app out there it's just a suggestion, you can review and export the files for further post-processing.

I wrote the instructions off the top my head. so feel free to check me.

cheers.

This application looks awesome! tried to tested on 10.10 but doesn't work on it.

Is there any way to remove the restriction to make it work since 10.10? I'm more than happy to install the latest Xcode on 10.10 to make it work if that's necessary, more than happy to document the process to anyone on 10.10.

I was looking for the same answer and this post helped to understand little bit more.
