General Help Q&A / Re: why is my card skipping frames
October 16, 2018, 07:44:07 PM
What camera are you using.

The the limitation in data rate is the interface between the camera you're recording and the memory card.

Ha ha, some of those effects are subtle. Must be fun to watch this stoned. Not that I would know  ;)

It would be great to get lossless compressed on this camera. You can get longer recording times and/or larger frame sizes with lossless compressed than you can with just fewer bits.

maybe  :)

Nice work man. I've actually been thinking about doing something kind of similar, but using the video frames to make photos. Only thing I didn't really like was the font and color on the titles. Not sure about your workflow, but you probably could have gotten by with just ae or premiere

I'm soo bad at titles and graphics like that ! Its my weak point when it comes to media  :)
My workflow was bad like that because I was being lazy to learn a proper workflow and it was kind of a fun project to pass time.

And if you're thinking of trying something like this I want to see!! even if its 30secs.

Awesome nice work @whyfy like the color grading and composition.  By the way what film grain, dust, and scratches did you use?

4K Dirt vintage film dust hair damage 35mm footage FREE noise overlay after effects premiere HD

I like it because its not too much grain and it adds some scratches as well.

That's a wonderful music video. I really like it. It's so inspring and impressive. Everything in this video is really great!

Got inspiration from another instrumental video. I wasn't all that difficult trying to beat the recording limit on the 60D (17secs), I set it to 2:35.1 and decreased the resolution a little to squeeze more frames. Processed with MLV Producer to ProRes 422 Clog, Graded in Resolve, After effects and Premier pro. Work flow was a bit messy because its the first time doing something like this.

Yes you are right, SL1 is limited due to its OWN sd card interface; which means buying a faster card will not help.
And 2.0 bitrate is not the same as Raw, Raw is a different and much higher quality codec vs h.264.

General Help Q&A / Re: Watermark? Help!

Its not a watermark, its the focus pixels for your cameras new on sensor phase detect.

For example if you use this programme  https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=9560.0 you can select the (stripe removing) feature.
Which will get rid of the focus pixels.

@maxotics  Press Q to open up render queue, then Media queue window will show, now you can copy all of the clips parameters BUT have the option to paste what you want.

But I think you have to open them like this so you can see all the clips

@D_Odell @maxotics
Thanks for the feedback! Better to have something to improve on than nothing. All of the editing and corrections were done in daVinci resolve so the options were limited. And it was my first comparison video. But for next time it will be done differently.

@maxotics Yes you're right about the high contrast in the RAW shots. Whilst correcting in Resolve I had problems when exporting the video. Maybe its to do with video settings truncating levels below 16 and above 235 or I'm bad at Grading lol.

10Bit Raw module, DeBayered with MLVProducer, Corrected and edited in Resolve.
Set to 1728x736 25p upscaled to 1920x820

I'm kinda in the same process as you; and I do think you're throwing away dynamic range when converting to sRGB.
Personally I think you should use a flatter colour space like log preset or one of the Slogs?

@AWPStar
What is the difference between ProRes (FAST) and ProRes (422),
because in Resolve the (422) files are shown to be 4444,
but weirdly the (FAST) is shown to be 422

Edit maybe you've just muddled the names up because in the preset menu, ProRes fast is 422 and ProRes 422 is actually 4444

General Help Q&A / Re: EMERGENCY - Bit Rate for 60d & 70d
November 28, 2016, 01:26:06 AM
Movie Tab --> Bit Rate (CBR) then change it to 0.8x and also toggle 'on' Bitrate Info so you can actively monitor bitrate levels.

24mm is not that wide and if you want more in focus maybe shoot at f/8

General Help Q&A / Re: Autofocus for 60d during video
October 09, 2016, 12:16:53 PM
You can use auto focus but it will not be automatic/continuous.

In the standard video menu you can set the back button af to engage the autofocus.

When asking questions like this you should always mention the camera you are using.
Simply because different camera interfaces SD or CF have different performance levels.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer

Also as you can see in this picture, when I select any LUT with LOG or CLogC I get horrible bands going across areas of highlights and shadows :'(

http://j75i.imgup.net/Screenshotde72.png

This problem has never occurred in the previous builds.

.....REC 709 with no LUT does not have this problem at all, it only occurs with flat profiles.

@awpstar

In version build2643 INTEL where are the noise reduction settings in general for normal raw videos NOT dual-iso stuff?
