Hi all.
I have a question about RAW post in DaVinci.
When you shoot raw in different Fps (25-50-60,etc...) You have different sizes. But DaVinci manage 1 of them.

( I.e. for 16:9 at 50fps you have 1920x672. So in Da Vinci you must scale the Y value to 1,61.
If you shoot in 2.35:1 you have a 1920x508 file, same thing Y to 1,61. )

So if you have a project with different files and sizes you have to scale them manually, one by one...
Someone find a better way to do it?
Thanks...

I liked the 2nd one (aka the meat one), however I do not understand Italian, and the small amount of Esperanto that I know did not help either.

Ha Ha, Thanks!!!

nice work, I dont hear Italian though. Did you use filmConvert for color correction?

Thanks. No, I didn't use FilmConvert. I used DaVinci for the Correction and AE for the Grading.

Just crop it in post. The specs in bluray for fullHD 4:3 is 1440x1080, because the width shrinks obv.
Sure, but it's not for the 380 pixels than for the field of view... Thanks

For preview it may be possible at some point. For recording, no.

Hi Alex. Now that we Can shoot real anamorphic in raw, with 4:3 aspect ratio (for few frames...sigh), is it possible now to shoot  4:3 anamorphic in "normal", h264 mode?

Raw Video / Re: Green/Magenta tint in RAW's DNG

On forums answers sometimes go out...  ;)
I have this problem with ALL Dngs...
Try the original from Bolex site:

http://www.digitalbolex.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/BLX00001-20110317-0000436-15mm-Elitar.dng

What happen when you import in AE or DaVinci?

Something goes wrong in the way the color matrix is written in exif.

If you use no color matrix (with Rawtherapee choose "no profile" at color management) and then you copy the color matrix 1 coefficients (multiplied by 100 so 1.89 becomes 189..) in RT's "channel mixer" you take the colors you describe as "perfect".

In case you have difficulty finding those multipiers here they are ..  as written in exif
1.80477 -0.54011 -0.26466 -0.19744 1.36156 -0.16413 0.21195 -0.83605 1.6241
and after X100 .... 180 -54 -26 -20 136 -16 21 -84 163.

We have to dig in DNG specs to find the correct writing of color matrices and correct it in exif data..

Edit. Looks like the multipliers are at the inverse order .. 163 -84 21 -16 136 -20 -26 -54 180.

This could be the solution. Thanks.
I have this problem with all files and in all softwares, so it's my computer where all is written in the inverse order.
Because I have thousand of files, how Can I fix this in AE, or Da Vinci...

Raw Video / Green/Magenta tint in RAW's DNG
July 11, 2013, 02:02:01 PM
Hi all.
When I open a Raw's DNG in Photoshop or After Effects, I found a strange "green/magenta" tint in the frame that I Can't fix with the standard "White Balance" tools.
Where I go wrong?

I post here an example.
This isn't from Canon, but the first Bolex tests from Bolex's site. Over is how look the DNG when I open it (Face is Magenta, background is green!!!). Down the .jpeg posted by Bolex on the site... (Perfect)...

You Can download the original dng at:

Your card is simply not as good as advertised by the manufacturer. No real surprise, isn't it? They want to sell these things so they make them look better than they are.
Thanks N/A and CFP.
3 new SanDisk cards, 30MB/s... I thought they're perfect for the job... What a bad purchase. At 8MB/s they aren't even Class 10.
Thanks for the reply.

About the CFP ideas...
Is now possible to shoot H264 video with a 4:3 aspect ratio? I'm asking for this from a lot, but at that time A1ex said it's impossible.
If you shoot with anamorphic lenses in 4:3 and then stretch, you have a 2.35:1 video with the double of pixels...

I shoot Raw with my 8/16 GB SanDisk Ultra 30MB/s...
Nothing more than 3 seconds still at 960*540...
Doing the ML test and results that it write at 8MB/s...
How it's possible?

Here a (bad quality) first test with 600D. It's very impressive to look at sharpness, detail and gamma with this format. I shoot max 42 frames at 25 fps with my 30 MB/s Class 10 SD...

I never seen it.  8)(I work on 550D with nightly builds).
If not I must buy the 600D... :'(

General Help Q&A / ML on Canon eos 650D
February 12, 2013, 02:57:44 PM
Hi. Just a little question.
I'll buy a new DSLR. I'm interrested in Canon EOS 650D.
But I have a doubt... Will it work with Magic Lantern?
It seems to be not supported. Is it right? Must I buy a 600D to work with ML?
Thanks to all...

I thought so... I'm actually surprised at how few camera-makers would consider using tricks like those.  :-\

Yes. And I don't know why Canon never do something with A1ex.
If I use Canon is because him.

Reading the number-crunching that went on after my own crude crunching made me think about something I've been looking at for some time now... but it does require us to get into how it reads off the sensor. Which may be off-limits for firmware. It's basically a feature-request. But I just need to brain-dump a bit.

Either we maybe could lower the amount of pixels to Scope (1920x800) to lessen the load of the encoder to enable 48fps or the like without increasing the amount of bandwidth per second (by lessening the amount per frame)

Or... this might be fun. Non-square PAR readout. If can muck about with how the image is read from sensor. We could possibly use full 1920x1080 for a 2.4:1 area. Gaining a bit in vertical resolution when we later squeeze it down to appropriate size with vertical oversmpling. 0.67:1 PAR if I understand it correctly... or maybe it's just 1:1.33 PAR.

Or we could do something similar to get a 4:3 area recorded to the full 1920x1080. It probably would gain a bit in vertical resolution after scaled down to 1440x1080. Or full 3:2 sensor readout to 1920x1080.

---
So far so good anyways when it comes to stability though. :)

I'll probably not go much higher than 100Mbps if given the option. Mostly because of storage-issues if anything.

I ask from months for this feature (particularly the 4:3 one for 2X anamorphic lenses). A1ex say that this isn't possible because this is a DIGIC feature. And you Can't modify it with ML...
I hope they find the way in the future...

Corporate Video for "2M Foundry", shot as Cinematic as I Can.

Shoot with Canon DSLR (60D, 550D and 5D) at 25 and 60fps.
Magic Lantern was very helpful for a fast work.
Mostly shot with Pentax lenses from '70 and '80 (Vivitar 135 f2.8, Helios 50mm f2, Sun 28mm f2.8 and other, Sigma 12-18 f4).

Wow, just wow  :D

Is the first shot CG or did you really fly that low with a camera?

Thanks all.
KarateBrot, the first clip is real, but it's the only clip I never shot with Canon. :-) It's a wescam clip I buyed.
The clip with the house in the mountains is CG, others are all shot with 60D/550D and MagicLantern.
