Ok I really want to get the image centered on the mark II in the 3008x1080 mode, how do I get started. Is it a difficult change?

Also... wow! I'm super impressed that you almost have proper anamorphic working on 50D,  exciting.

Edit: it looks like there is still some weird aliasing, could we see MLV  file?
#352
Thank you Danne! I like the ISO with buttons method, much faster than normal version.

I figured out that I need to enable "set 25fps" - then I get 1736x2178 at 18fps - without enabling it I only got 12. The name of the option doesn't make much sense, doesn't seem to do anything related to 25 fps :D But 18 FPS is good enough for me.

Thanks for the file. Very clean compared to what I'm used to. Making me closer to getting a 5D3...

And here's my edit:

In fact I think the mark 3 must be one of the best low light video cameras... I just never see this kind of quality on the mark 2

Congrats Ilia on the purchase!  8)
Thanks to Danne & the ML Team, 5K rewired is awesome! 10-bit is the best if you want continuous recording using that mode with Ratio "on" @1464x1836, 23.972fps [2.39:1 or other] or ratio off @1736x2178, 18fps, 2.39:1 or other]. You can select 14 bit but you won't get as much recording time unless you dial the resolution back. Its also nice to have a full frame dslr and mirroless camera, good combo! I know MSAC also has these two which is cool!

@Danne
With ratio set to OFF in 5K Rewired @1736x2178 I can get 23.97fps using fps override, the only issue though is that it freezes in the live view.  ::) :'(

With 5K rewired and ratio OFF I get 12fps. And when I try to fps override above 15fps, the image just stops existing and I get 2.6 kilobyte MLV files. How can you get 23.976 @ 1736x2178??? I literally cannot make it work much above 12 fps

Also how do you set ISO while in video mode?
#355
Are the columns of pixels are even in the correct order?

#356
@Danne wow it's actaully getting rid of those things :o

This might even save reddeercity's 4K modes :D
#357
Also looks like you didn't have highlight reconstruction enabled in MLV App, the highlights are pink. Did it ruin the colours? I am curious to see how this video looks if you enable it. (if you could just show a screenshot maybe? :) )
#358
Wow! This is stunning.

However, I think you should have filmed this on the much more cinematik EOS M 😉🤪

Oh wow enabling expo override and disabling expsim does fix it! Magic Lantern fixes the EOS M's broken ness.

Thanks so much.

I disabled all exposure related stuff in canon custom functions, video and photo modes have diffferent brightness even on manual and same settings, but when taking picture its good exposure (like liveview in videomode) but in photomode liveview is too dark, whjich is strange cause its full manual same iso as video mode and same shutter, same aperture, so in the end it does take picture correctly but liveview brightness is not correct when in photo mode.

Sounds just like the issue I am having!

But I don't have the issue when I tried my 19-35 electronic lens. Only with manual lenses.

You mean in camera right? I forgot to add ettr module. Next time i will try with that.  Is there any known conflict ettr module with your builds?

Don't worry about the module, just enable raw zebras, and push the exposure as much as you want, using the zebras to make sure you don't clip too much.
#363
I will try and find all exposure settings I can. Menu is unfamiliar and a little bit intimidating. So far I only disabled highlight tone priority in custom function (what a weird place for the setting, and strange that it is enabled by defualt)
#364
I used manual M mode and manual ISO, only auto ISO gave results that match display exposure, when using manual ISO the result is about two stops brighter than it showed on the screen. The adapter I am using right now is an M39-EFM - no chip at all.
#365
Thank you for the link😍

I hope the exposure preview will be correct once I use chipped m42 adapter + ef adapter (when that comes). I get accurate exposure when shooting stills in video mode, so I will use that for now.

just a general question about the EOS M, i haven't installed ML on it yet (abou to).

Why is the ISO selection limited from 200 (cannot choose ISO 100), and all the ISOs have D+ written on them. Then when I take a picture shooting in raw or jpeg, it's all overexposed afterwards, compared to what liveview showed - this is so confusing. I am using manual mode and an adapted lens (no electronic lens info going to the camera)

This D+ thing is my main suspect, does anyone know how to remove it? I have completely reset the camera, it does not go awawy. sorry for filling the thread up with off topic crap.

EDIT: I have disabled highlight tone priority, it has extended the ISO range down to 100, but every photo still comes out over exposed. Only with auto ISO does it look right.

EDIT: Camera says exposure simulation is turned on, I guess it is off by about two stops. Is this a common issue?

EDIT: Also which build should I use @Danne

Shockingly after converting the mlv file to dng files using "Magic Lantern Raw video converter", all the dng files I've got are all pictures of white noise.

Haven't ever heard of that software, it is probably old and released before magic lantern could do compression, so does not have support for it. Use Switch or MLV App or MLVProducer.
#368
Ah yes I see the video. Not much metadata is being added yet. Just enough for MLV App to know what camera it is :D

Yep. Thanks @Ilia3101! :)

Possible to also also the exif data as well?

I already add info about camera, so some exif/metadata is there. But I will add lens info and time/date now.
#370
just realised I need to add date and time to raw2mlv output!

Thanks every1!

EOS M club is very nice.

All modes are continuous when selected from tap display list.

Now this is impressive! Very nice to the users.

Oh yeah me and masc Have same cameras now :D 10 bit is great for continuous, but I don't shoot that kind of stuff really. I prefer 12 bit, I found 10 bit very often has shadow artifacts unless you expose perfectly. And I never really use 14 bit, 12 bit looks identical to me.

Wow this is nice to know. I don't care about liveview anyway :D I have been shooting mostly with mostly broken liveview and no playback anyway.

So we can already say "welcome to the M gang"?
So excited to be joining the M gang. (once it arrives in the mail)

You can choose any bitdepth and it is compressed, but the internal memory is way smaller than in 5D2. So it stops very soon or produces corrupted pink frames when you record too much data. For maximum cropmode resolution I am not sure...

Glad you can choose bitdepth (From a recent zeek video I got the impression that it only lets you use 10 bit). And glad that it has compression. I just about the crop resolution question as I seem to remember seeing a video on youtube at 3000x1200 or something like that (could be a memory issue in my head).

Also how long does 4.5k normally record for? I'll try not to ask any more questions until I get it (too excitinnnh).

Yes, there is also a full sensor anamorphic preset, but only at 18fps (if I remember right). You won't get more data on the card in time. That is also why the 23.98fps anamorphic presets don't use full sensor width: too much data, what ends in corrupted frames.

Yay! 18FPS should be fine for shots I want to use it for. It limited to 10 bit? I would like to use 12 bit if possible. And is it compressed? (I ordered an EOSM)

Also what is the widest crop mode resolution? Can it get 2880x1080 or more? I know it can do 2520x1400, so maybe it can do something like 2880x1200?
#374
I always hear about these 4.5k 3x anaamoprphic modes - but it seems like they are a little bit cropped, as the sensor has 5184 width resolution.

Would it be it possible to get a 5.2K or 5.1K anamorphic mode? I understand this would require some vertical crop, could it be done and still have a decent aspect ratio? @Danne

Or maybe something inbetween...

Also is is possible to move the anamorphic frame around the sensor?

Thank you Luther and Ilia3101

To be honest, I'm not really sure what I'm doing. When I'm filming, I try to over expose as much as I can. In MLV app, I simply drop the gamma value (default 3.15) down to 2. Then I add some vibrance / contrast. I find the picture comes cleaner than working with underexpose footage. Only problem is I clip a a lot. Please correct me if im wrong, everything is still a work in progress for me.

Here are some screenshots of the process.

https://imgur.com/a/jg1IAlI

Tone mapping is set to the default rec709. I've tried zeeks method of using BDMflm but looks weird on my shots.

If you reprocess the shot at 1:21 the exact same way, but with "Reinhard 3/5" insread of rec709, it should look much better! Please try it and show how it looks if you have time. All Reinhard 3/5 does is roll the highlights off really smoothly without having too much of an effect on the image.

Also on the screenshot you showed, the gamut is set to rec709, but tonemapping is Reinhard. So were you sometimes using rec709 and sometimes reinhard? Or do you mean gamut was default rec709. (sorry if there's confusion, as rec709 is an option in both gamut and tonemapping)
