I spent about 4 hours last night going through every program I could put my hands on, and unfortunately either the software isn't ass good (or reliable), or there is a learning curve I couldn't beat...

To give you a background, I spent maybe 2 hours at work playing with the different softwares, and Switch was by far the best outcome.  There is a slight learning curve with the menu system, but once you find settings that work, it's a breeze.

I used MlRawViewer in the past, and it's a good solution for converting, but it doesn't upscale and include the denoise and sharpening options

I used Mlv App last night and I tried about 5-6 different Sharpening and denoise options, but none of them kept the details, they just muddied the image up, and smoothed out edges.  Needless to say, I couldn't get the results I got on Switch.  In addition, it froze doing a batch at about 12%, so I consider that unreliable.

Switch essentially gave my 5dIII new life, because the 1080 RAW image that came out of it could be upscaled and could sit side by side with an actual 4K image out of a production camera.  I'd really like to have the opportunity to work with those files or anything I shoot at home.  Unfortunately all my processing power is the PC ecosystem. 

The only other options I have is to try Linux, but I'm not at all familiar with that ecosystem, so I would have to get over a steep learning curve... 

So I really love this!  I used it today to convert some 5D3 RAW footage at work (just some stuff I was playing around with), and I was able to take 1080 footage, upscale, add sharpening and noise reduction, and the shots looked just like our Panasonic Varicam LT.  A bunch of shots from this shoot will make it to air in our show.

I wanted to go home and do the same thing, but unfortunately I have a windows environment, and I haven't found a tool that can do the same upscale, sharpening and noise reduction as Switch.

Any chance this will ever get a windows version? 

I have a few questions before I commit to purchasing SlimRAW.  The first and most important is about performance in Premiere and After Effects.  Currently I have an i7 3930K and have a server feeding a 10GbE pipe with 650MB/s of read and write performance.  As it stands I get choppy, and drop frame performance reading 16bit CDNG content on Premiere Pro.  I converted these the MLV files using RAW2CDNG (which I has proven to be the best performance and reliable out of all the options out there).  I want to know if this will actually improve performance, as resolve plays the files fine, and PPcc has hiccups.  This has lead me to believe that PPcc is the issue over file size and data rates.  So, can anyone give me a reasonable explanation about why slimraw would make playback and editing better in PPcc?

Second, I would like to know if anyone has had any issues with crashing or bad frames in the compression process.  I've had my fair share of issues finding the right software to do the conversions from MLV, and I finally found a version of raw2cdng that works pretty reliably.

Third, how does licensing work?  I generally shoot for myself, but I use a computer at work to process footage occasionally.  Do I need to purchase two separate licenses, or will it allow me to use the same license on each computer (like Adobe products) as long as I don't have both using the same license at the same time?

I previously had an issue with Magic lantern Raw producing pink frames.  I tested all the MLRAW to CDNG converters out there that I could find.  Just about all of them had issues producing pink frames.  I did however find this build: raw2cdng.1.5.0.betra7 to be flawless in shooting an entire 128GB compact flash card on 5d Mark III with firmware 1.2.3 and magic lantern build: Nightly.2015Dec20.5D3123.

This build records audio, and didn't produce any pink frames when paired with the raw2cdng.1.5.0.beta7 converter.  Keep in mind this is the MLV moduel, not the RAW module with Magic Lantern.  I also disabled Global draw when I did these tests.  I shot at 1920x1080 24p on 5d3.  Here is a link to the test shoot I did: https://youtu.be/wyH6z47rmL4

I haven't done much testing since then, but this was shot in February, using the said versions of software and Magic Lantern. 

In conclusion, I've come to the realization that some of the issue with pink frames may not come from the MLV files themselves, but from the converters doing the conversion.  I can tell you that I've tested the same footage, and I've got different results from different software. 

I propose that I take a file that you are getting pink frames with and trying it with this converter to verify if it's Magic Lantern causing the issue, or if it's your converting software.

Food for thought!  Love ML and love what you guys have done with it in the last 5 years.  I can't wait until it's actually partnered with Canon (if they will ever do such a thing) to create an all in one package!

Running the latest build of ML on 5d3 1.2.3.  Is anyone having issue with random Red Frames?  I get them on just about every clip.   Buidl: Nightly.2015Dec 20.5d3123

Is anyone else have thing issue?  Does anyone know how to fix this?  I use an Atomos Ninja Blade, so I need the uncompressed HDMI, so I can't go down to 1.3.3.

Any help would be great!
