lubo, my card Kingston SDA3/64 GB SDXC UHS I U3 write speed test rezults (Mb/s): 41.6 , 40.8, 40.5, 39, 36.1, 37.9, 31.2, 15.9.
Transcend 32gb 10 class write speed: 30-32 mb/s.

Quick zoom is work fine for me at all it's settings.
May be I'm stupid, but I can't understand what setting ""Image Review" -> "CanonMnu:Hold->PLAY" must do. -> I can't test it. Can anyone tell me what this setting do?
It means that when you set your canon menu to review the image after it's been taken for "Hold" time, you no longer have to press the Play button in order to zoom into the image.

In the Canon menu you can set how many seconds you want your image to be displayed after capture. You can choose between 2, 4, etc seconds and Hold. If set to hold, the image is displayed until you press something else.
Now usually, in order to zoom into a image after capture, you'd have to press the play button first.
But with that ML feature enabled, if you set Hold for the above option, you no longer have to press play and you can zoom into an image as soon as it's been captured.

Elapsed/remaining Time Display is working for Me as well but would not want FPS Display go away. Would rather see File # replaced with Time Indicator during Rec

if possible.
Yes. Even better.

Follow above link to grab the test builds for 70D.111A / B.
What to test:

  • All Quickzoom stuff! I wasn't able to implement Ken Rockwell Zoom feature but you can emulate it via "Image Review" -> "CanonMnu:Hold->PLAY"
  • That said I am thinking about some optional Automode which would automatically apply the setting from "Quick Zoom" once "Image Review" -> "CanonMnu:Hold->PLAY" is set.Hope you understand it.
  • Time indicator is enabled as requested. This required to enable bitrate features which aren't likely to work. But I may stand corrected cause I never shoot videos...
  • Arrow shortcuts are enabled again (same keys as before [check help]). seems to work ok in movie mode only but for 100% perfection I would like to cancel the dialog kicking in "This function is not available in movie shooting mode" and maybe restrict it to movie mode only. In liveview I don't seem to be able to catch an usable key event. Need really more time to find "the" perfect solution. But I guess those that wanted to have arrow shortcuts should be even happy about this state...
  • Histogram tweaks from a1ex's pull request are inbuilt.test them thoroughly and approve / confirm / comment the pull request please: https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern/pull-requests/667/histogram-tweaks/diff

So still some ToDo's but I expect some feedback if you wish one or all of those features implemented  ;D
Arrow shortcuts work as before. Thank you for enabling them, and on such a short notice, too.
Elapsed/remaining time display are also working, just a little glitchy as the numbers are displayed over the chosen fps so they keep flickering. I wouldn't mind if fps display was removed altogether as that's a feature you usually set once for your region and then never touch again. But if it can't be removed easily, it's fine anyway.
Thanks again for all the amazing work you're doing transforming these DSLRs.

Hmm ok I will look into arrow shortcuts again but as fa ras I remember I wasn't convinced by the way how it worked as for 70D it was really hard to catch an unused and additionally unique key-press-event. At least we were able to trigger it and if you find it useful I can re-activate it and release it for testing...
Indeed, their functionality was kinda funky.. But hey! Canon offers no way of changing the WB while recording, and even when not, the way they make you do it in live view with Q and Info really sucks in my opinion. So therefore having the arrows to control WB at will is priceless. If enabling them only involves uncommenting some code, then I believe it's worth it.

I will have a look into it.
Also the arrow keys shortcuts were amazing, too. I dunno why those were removed, they were gold for changing white balance and setting shutter speeds bellow the 1/30 canon limit.

Sweet! Thanks a lot, nikfreak. You're the greatest! :D

Hey, guys.
Is there any way we could reimplement the feature of displaying "elapsed/remaining 4gb/remaining card" feature?
I find it critical to know when the card is about to fill up and when a 4gb break is about to occur while shooting long sessions of video.

Sounds like pressing info button several times could solve his problem or Global Draw is completely turned off.
His symptoms could be replicated by first cycling the Info button to a screen without ml, and then enabling exposure presets changed by the info button..

So awesome Nikfreak! Thanks for all the continued hard work!  I'll try it out on my B firmware 70D tonight.

I noticed you've yet to make note about any additional audio features, are we still waiting on the new audio package to be merged?  Or is there something else needed to make this happen?
What additional audio features besides the ones implemented by Canon are you looking for?

Assuming you are meaning in MovieMode with ServoAF Enabled ~ Scroll Via the Info Button to any Display other than the ML Display & use

the AF On/Off as you would if you did not have ML Loaded. Otherwise, via the Custom Functions you can Dedicate the Button of Your Choice to be

an AF Lock Button.

I like using the AF/MF switch on the lens barrel..

If I want to use two different SD cards both with the same version of ML on them do I need to unload and reload ML when I switch between the cards?
No, that would be crazy..

If you have a problem with the direction of the project, feel free to contribute.

The developers here are not compensated and merely work on this as a hobby project. We work on the things that interest us, because we find it fun, interesting, and educational, and then we turn around and freely share our work with others. For some reason, this fact tends to piss a lot of people off, esp. "professionals". I really can't understand why.
Translation:
I guess I probably fall into that category, and personally, I would much rather work with those people than the so called "professionals"*. They tend to be much more humble, useful, and more likely to contribute to this project than many of the arrogant "professionals" who simply step in and yell "You should be working [feature X] because I'm a pro, you're a child, and I said so".

*I'm not trying to make a generalization here, there are very many "professionals" who have done considerable work for this project, and that is greatly appreciated. It's the few bad apples that just come in and make demands and have a generally poor attitude, that I have a problem with.
Just because there was no response, doesn't mean that your post went unnoticed. I'm sure nikfreak appreciates all the reports of what is and isn't working, though he might not have time to respond to each and every one. Please continue to post problems that you might find, just know that it might not get an immediate response.
Funny thing is, if the team would concentrate on building a stable, useful ML, like the late v2.3, most of these arrogant "professionals" would gladly pay for it. Even if they'd only charge like 30 bucks for it, at say.. 1000 users, that would make for quite an income..

Posted this twice and no response, just more endless fixation with RAW on this forum. Audio is a problem that really does need attention.

ML audio meters are showing much lower readings than the Canon meters. Using the Canon AGC mode as a test, the Canon meters run high into the yellow (-12db and above) but the ML meters dont match this and show very low readings. The same big mismatch happens in non AGC mode.
Yeah, I know what you mean.. A lot of people here fixating on raw and hdr and other child's toys like that, while totally ignoring the more important stuff that professionals use in ML to make their canons functional in their line of work. I feel like most of the people here on this forum are using their dslr to shoot stuff in their back yard..

Hi All

Total noob to ML (I know.. joy) but from what I've seen from youtube videos this is some amazing stuff. You guys are genius! Thank you for sharing!

I am excited to learn more about it, using it and such, but I have some questions.

1) What mode should the selector wheel be on to install?
2) What happens if I need to swap an SD card.. like if I run out of space on the card I used to install ML and put in a card that is only formatted and empty with canon folders. Does the ML need to be on all the cards?
3) I installed alpha6 and have the A version of the camera, but in the first post some things were removed. I tried looking through bucket for the comments, but where?
4) Would the boot/install make any changes to the camera before starting the firmware update? Like when the camera boots up, is anything from the ML files being applied before actually going to the menu and hitting update firmware?
5) What do you all recommend as the best resource to get good starter info for using ML?

Thank you in advance for your input.

Chris

1. Install ML in manual mode.
2. You need to install it separately on all your cards.

my problem with all what happen and what i try

first of all, i use ML on my t2i for 3 years without a problem, so using it on my 70d was not my first time. i always wait until the SD card light turns off and i shut the camera off to take out or change the memory

I use the Nightly.2015Apr23.70D111B on my sandisk extreme pro class 10 95mbs (2 of them) and test it on my Canon 70D (W) (the wifi model)

I test the raw footage and other visual stuffs i use on my t2i, it work fine

i turn off the camera and didn´t use it for 3 weeks, i think that i have left the baterry on the camera this time

When i take the camera and turn it on, the led was black, and rear buttons didn´t work, the top panel was on and ok, and that buttons and settings work fine, the f on the rear panel was working with a digital lens. i also notice that the sd light was on and never turn off

i have done this so far:

- Change SD card
- Change batteries (i have 1 canon original and 3 non-original)
- left the camera without batteries 24hours
- install latest version of ML , magiclantern-Nightly.2015May31.70D111A, the led turn on with a ML text saying that it wasn´t the model for that ML, so i install magiclantern-Nightly.2015May31.70D111B, and it was back to black led without rear buttons working
- try a SD card without ML
- now i´m trying toi rebooy my camera, but i read that this model doesn´t have an internal battery that users can reach, so i´m trying with a tip for this that says that if i keep on without batteries the camera some minutes, and then some hours off without battery it might work. if it doesn´t, i will take it to service to reboot
Also, did you by any chance use the SD card somewhere else before putting it back in the 70D when it stopped working?

I ask because it reminds me of this situation I had: I took by mistake the SD card from my T3i (with t3i ML on it) and inserted it in my 70D, and it froze up when I turned it on (black screen, non responsive). I think I had to take out the battery to power it down, but it then recovered when I inserted the correct SD card with the 70D ML on it.

So...

@ joanmsoriano

What does the " (W) " after  70D mean?
I'm assuming he's referring to the WiFi version.

I've been following this thread for a few months now and it's becoming quite clear that the build for the B version of the 70D is a lot funkier. It seems that 80% of the problems come from that camera.
Or maybe there are just more B owners..  Who knows?...

70D version A (it's also in my signature as requested by nikfreak). ML build 31st of May (Nightly 2015 May 31 70D111A).

Did you wait 3-5 seconds after opening door before taking the card out during swap?
I'm not one to count seconds, but I do always wait for the led activity to stop. That's my queue for knowing when to take out the card.

@xsghost

Consider Me "somewhat" surprised, as we still need to hear back from JoanMSoriano on the status of that issue. It does

seem quite similar to your 2nd incident though.

Might have been nice of you to report the incidents that you had when they happened so others might have benefitted

from the info.
Well I see a lot of vague undocumented posts around here, and I didn't want to be that guy that just posts about a bug without being sure about what caused it exactly.
As long as I can't repeat that situation, I can't really call it a bug or claim I know what I'm talking about.
Having said that, I have had the camera refuse to turn on after switching cards more than once now, displaying just a black unresponsive screen. I can't tell for sure what sequence of steps must be taken to achieve it, or how to avoid it. I know for sure only that it happens both when changing cards while the camera is on, and if you turn the camera off before the change...
