Raw Video Postprocessing / CinemaDNG for windows
August 23, 2013, 10:20:12 AM
Hello,

I know there is a software to convert raw files to cinemaDNG on windows, but I can not find it anymore. Can someone point me to it?

Thanks

Hello,

I rendered prores proxy files of my cinemaDNGs that I have from RawMagic. I did my editing with premiere pro and exported a finalcut-xml. In resolve I imported the xml (without the proxys so that it would connect to the c-DNGs files in the media pool), however, it connects the same file to every single clip. What could I have done wrong, as I don' t think a timecode missmatch is possible? Force conform to selected clips works, but that would be very very cumbersome.

Hello,

I tried to convert my raw files with raw2dng 0.11 and rendered a tiff sequnce with photoshop and with the dng-source a 422 prores with afterfx. What is very strange is that the photoshop sequence plays faster!? Both processings are 2010.
I was carefull enough to check that both files are 25fps.

The file from photoshop was changing exposure all the time (dealbreaker)
The file from after effects judders (dealbreaker)

Has anyone had the same problem?

Is there a way to batch convert dng-sequences to tiffs? So that we do not have to convert shot by shot?

Hello,

as the 5dmk2 is limited to 1880 horizontal resolution and 1250 vertical resolution, it would be nice if the following resolutions could be added:

1880x787 (2.39:1)
1880x1016 (1.85:1)
1880x1058 (16:9)

Those resolutions should be the highest resolution possible on the 5dmk2 for every major aspect ratio. So no recropping in post would be necessary and no bit on the CF would go to waste. This allows us to record longer until the 4gb limit and the CF card space limit is reached.

That would be great. Thank you
O.

General Help Q&A / Burst Mode MDK2
May 19, 2013, 08:54:58 PM
Hey folks,

I do not find the burst mode on the current build for the 5dmk2. I have not really got to test that feature. Is it possible to shoot small low motions with it? Lets say, 150fps for 1-2 secs in 720p jpeg or anything near this? That would be very useful.

Feature Requests / Cinema-DNG for RAW2DNG
May 15, 2013, 10:12:28 AM
Hello,

my feature request would be that raw2dng would convert to cinema-dng instead of photo-dng.
Almost all professional software supports cinema-dng while the only video software that I know off that support photo-dng would be After effects. This would safe us a render-time-consuming workflow step. Footage could be imported straight to editing or grading suits.

White papers of cinema-dng can be found here http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/cinemadng/cinemadng_p1_spec_091009.pdf

Thank you so much for everything! You guys rock!

Raw Video / Raw video on 5DMK2
May 15, 2013, 08:19:46 AM
Hey folks,

I thought to open a specific topic for all discussions related to raw video on the 5dmk2.

Obsolete builds removed.  Please use official nightly builds //Audionut

Here is an easy guide on how to shoot raw with the 5dmk2 by forum member "CrewOfOne"  http://crewofone.com/2013/how-to-shoot-raw-video-on-your-canon-5d2-5d3-or-6d

Here are some of my resolution tests:

SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro 600x
Magic lantern Build 16Mai 17:14

1440x840@25 =  until 4GB limit                  50,7MB/sec
1644x900@25 = 1683 frames                     56,3MB /sec
1738x840@25 = 423 frames                        57.1MB/sec
1880x720@25 = 1531 frames (regression)   57,3MB/sec
1880x768@25 = 867 frames                        58,4MB/ sec
1880x840@25 = 213 frames                    ca 58,6MB/sec

Thanks

Feature Requests / mapping hot pixels out
August 11, 2012, 04:55:20 AM
Hi there,
first of great work ML team, many thanks!

Here is my feature request;
A way to map hot/stuck/dead pixels out. Almost every canon camera that I come across has that problem, and the older the camera the more hot pixels will show. In higher iso they will become really ugely and they need to be taken out in post-production.

If ML could map them out already before recording, that would make this camera so much more hassle free!
