Sure why not upload the H264 footage and compare? Are you also noticing any vertical like "stripes" in your cropped shots @friano75?

@_OLLE_ -- I'm afraid this module only works in a special build made by @a1ex for 5D3 atm. More to come later though, hopefully.

Thanks @DeafEyeJedi I think it will be nice to have it for the 7d as well!

Great video! how does the "2x anamorphic" works and what is it?

Best regards Olle!

ML does not work with v2.0.5.

Ok thanks!  :'(

No the max resolution is actually 1728x694 but you will get very few frames at that resolution!

I going to download ML to my 7d! Is it still only working with canons 2.0.3 firmware? or is it possible to use the 2.0.5 version?

General Help Q&A / Re: Buy a 7d? slow motion?

Thanks for all help! I did some research on internet and my conclusion was that I'm first going to buy the camera and then later maybe even a Vaf filter! Thanks again!

Thanks so much guys! Of course the aliasing is a problem but is it worse than the 600d/t3i?

Thanks alot guys! Therefore my day trying to shoot some skiing stuff was totally unsuccessful because of the "april bug". I can't trust you to 100% but anyway I think the 7d is a big upgrade from my 600d.

Thanks man! So you recorded in 1728x442 - 2.35:1 - 60fps for 47 seconds right? That sounds awesome! What card? Have you "Frame skipping" on or off? And this isn't a april joke?!

Anyone that knows a little bit more about shooting raw with the 7D? Would be really glad to hear your thoughts!

General Help Q&A / Buy a 7d? slow motion?
March 29, 2016, 05:34:24 PM
Hi, I don't know if placed the thread right but anyway I wonder a little bit about what you guys think about shooting raw with the 7D and especially the slow motion capabilities.
Now I have a canon 600d/t3i and I plan to buy a second hand canon 7d just to get more reading/writing speed.
Overall what experience do you guys have of shooting raw with the Canon 7D? any specific things?
I have been looking around on these two links for information about the 7ds capabilities ( http://rbrune.github.io/mlraw/  and https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16cgnRivbUv7nA9PUlCLmLdir3gXdIN3pqzCNAAybepc/edit#gid=5 ). My conclusion is that the maximum writing speed is around 80 mbps and especially if you use this Sandisk cf card that guaranty at least 65 mbps and maximum 160 mbps, I think it is the fastest CF card on the market! (https://www.sandisk.com/home/memory-cards/compact-flash/extremepro-compactflash ). According to these two site: ( http://rbrune.github.io/mlraw/ and https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16cgnRivbUv7nA9PUlCLmLdir3gXdIN3pqzCNAAybepc/edit#gid=5  With aspect ratio 2,35.1 it will be possible to record 1728x442 at 60fps for a pretty long time. Am I right? How long?
I also would be really glad if someone could do a test for me? I really should appreciated it. I would be really glad if someone could record a MLVfile in highest possible resolution (1728x442) with aspect ratio 2.35:1 at 60 fps (Change NSTC to PAL in the Canon menu to record 60fps insted of 50fps) and send me a download link to that file.
One more thing; I wonder how good the 7d is in aliasing compared to the 600d/t3i?

Best regards Olle

Great use of sound effects, wonderful shots - love the peacefulness.
Did you apply some kind of post stabilizer, though? Sometimes some choppiness can be observed.

And the slow mo: your workflow seems to be miraculous - I couldn't notice any aliasing.
The final effect is superb.

Wish you good luck.
Keep it up!

Thanks! My glidecam shots wasn't that smooth so I used warp stabilizer in Premiere. In my case i think warp stabilizer does a pretty bad job!

Unfortunately i can't nothing about coding, and I know that you couldn't pay someone to make a firmware. This is just a guess but could a "Kickstarter" projekt be more correct? I mean a "Kickstarter" projekt for the making of the 7d2 firmware and also for other upcoming camera firmweres in the future!?

I don't try to advertise https://www.kickstarter.com/

Hi, here is my two frist videos with MLRaw. First it's a video from the past summer when I was on a trip to the German island Rügen. This is my first "kind of landscape video" and it was the first time I did walking shoots with the Gildecam HD-2000 and also my first time using Magic Lantern RAW. It took me a lot of time to figure out my Raw workflow but now I'm more comfortable with the Raw format.

Camera settings:
Magic Lantern RAW
1600x408, 2:35.1, 24fps

Workflow:
RAW → raw2cdng → cdng → After Effects (converted the footage to Log with Cinelog-C and also added a Log to Rec709 lut) → export to (Apple ProRes 442 HQ) → Import to Premiere Pro → export to (Apple ProRes 442 HQ) → Youtube

The second video is just a quick test about the "Magic Lantern RAW" slow motion capabilities of my Canon 600d/ T3i. I'm pretty impressed of the image quality, just a little of noise and aliasing.

Camera settings:
Magic Lantern RAW
1280x326, 2:35.1, 60fps

Workflow:
ML RAW → raw2cdng → cdng → After Effects (converted the footage to Log with Cinelog-C) → export to (Apple ProRes 442 HQ) → Import to Premiere Pro (Log to Rec709) → export to (Apple ProRes 442 HQ) → Youtube

On my Instagram I have a few shorter videos shoot with MLRaw that i'm actually is more satisfied with  https://www.instagram.com/olle_98/

Pleas give me some advice on how I could imporve my video!? I Haven't spent so much time on color grading but I'm really appreciate tips about color grading!

Best regards Olle
