Raw Video / Re: mlv invalid header size repair? forgot to exfat
« on: July 13, 2016, 04:49:23 AM »
I took the file I changed and indeed took off the footer and MLVFS does read it.

However when I use mlrawviewer to quickly look at the shots (as it is convenient and quick ) with the error it does not open and when after it loads it freezes on the first frame. Hence my wrong conclusion that it wasn't working. Next time if I have this issue ill just use MLVFS first.

It doesn't explain why it can't be played in mlvrawviewer initially but does after.

Yes they are .mlv , no one answered and in desperation I read about other possible solutions and  after duplicating the file and adding the footer on the end it worked...

It would not play in the camera and would not play on mlvrawviewer and they were good takes so i took a chance and glad i did.

Im not sure what was going on but now I have two takes that i can extract with mlrawviewer as well as MLVFS :)

So what would you recommend when this happens again? I'd rather know the correct way instead.

As I'm on Mac, I used 0xED but there will be a PC equivalent like HxD or similar. But the hex to paste on the end would be the same. Refer to the link above for different hex for different card use corruption. Not sure about the pink frames issues however haven't seen that in my files.

So I found the answer and answering this just in case someone else has the same issue. I kept reading about corruption of the file not writing the header to the card and found a post by Shield: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5732.0

I simply downloaded a hex editor for OSX 0xED and pasted this hex in for the 4.29gb file:

80 04 = 1152 frames; should be exact number for corrupt 4GB files.

and saved it and was able to use the file!

Raw Video / mlv invalid header size repair? forgot to exfat
« on: July 07, 2016, 07:39:21 AM »
Hi,
Firstly
Thanks to the team for magic lantern, for providing an invaluable resource for film making.

I have an error I'd like to fix, In my rush out the door to shoot some shots. I forgot to exfat my cf flash card having set everything up Inside magic lantern. Any way I shot a few shots that were under 4.29 GB and there was no issue. But some shots were longer than what the format FAT 32 can handle it gave me " invalid head size error with hex offset" and kept adding files of  .M0x 52 bytes after.
I have read a few answers but they were old and am just ok at using hex but would like to know if these files are recoverable? And if possible what best I can do to rescue them.  I am using El Capitan OSX with the latest build of magic lantern June 16 . thanks

I too am having crashes with MLRV 1.4.3 . I am on Mavericks 10.9.4 Mac Mini .

I start the MLRV program navigate to my file and it starts up black, then if i scrub it crashes immediately, if i don't and just add it to the render queue for mov and then wait for the output the file is black.

With MLVFS i can safely make DNGs out of them but I do love MLRV. with its Luts

Hoping that this can get fixed.

General Chat / Re: Apertus Axiom Beta

I just wanted to let the Magic Lantern team know that without their backing I would have never seriously considered Apertus Axiom. But now I have bitten the bullet and am waiting for the exciting time ahead as we collectively watch it grow, so we can all get our hands on it to create some magic.

MLRawViewer is an amazing piece of software. I have watched it's steady and rapid progression and am grateful for all the hard work and diligence. It is a great time saver and its abilities are beyond what others can do and hope that you are not discouraged and  and many others will still be using it for the foreseeable future. Thank You!

I had an issue also with losing a Transcend 64Gb 400x CF using a recent nightly build of ML for 5D3 1.1.3 I was trying the start and stop silent pics intervalometer I was also using it in 3x mode and at 1sec intervals, at first the screen showed that it was writing and gave a file name but soon after 50 or so I noticed that the file name was not being recorded on the back of the LCD screen after which i stopped the timelapse and then when i tried to access the card it I was given the "Card can not be read" It was dead.
Maybe I shouldn't have tried to stop the timelapse but i have done 50 or so over time  and have watched the LCD to see what it was doing and this was the first time i noticed that it was irregular and didn't write the filename. I tried it again without the "start" and "stop after " feature and it seemed to be ok and writing the file name using another identical card.

I heartily agree. exif data would be immense in silent DNG as it would mean longer durations in exposure therefore more flexibility. But thanks goes to the team for an awesome addition to the tools  :D

I downloaded MLVBrowseSharp_OSX.zip and MonoFramework-MRE-3.2.4.macos10.xamarin.x86.pkg (http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html) I am on ML 10.8.3 Mac Mini 16Gb RAM

FWIW  I do have X11 installed also. this might make a difference

After installing and restarting it worked as per Danne instructions

IT WORKS! I had an issue  with the MLVBrowseSharp crashing  and reinstalled the MonoFramework-MRE and it was back to normal. Hope that helps the Mac users out there.

Thank you to the Magic Lantern community. and g3gg0  Awesome work. Have been using it in production and have been incredibly pleased and want to thank you all for sharing. Much LOVE.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hmm  having issues with the output. But at least i can view it for now.
