Trying to record a bit with the intervalometer, to answer @JoshuOne, got the timer running, 10s, FRSP, MLV, the screen was always off which is nice, but after 9 frames or so:

Replied to the commit but I'll add it here too:

On my M1 I now get:

* image on screen for X sec followed by black screen that waits for a button press with Canon->"Image review"->"X sec" and no matter what ML->"Image Review Settings"
* image on screen that waits for a button press with Canon->"Image review"->"Hold" and no matter what ML->"Image Review Settings"
* black screen that waits for a button press with Canon->"Image review"->OFF and no matter what ML->"Image Review Settings"

What settings should I set and how to get NO image review at all BUT no black screen waiting for a button press either?

I would ask for my money back...

1. Always on - I can't see any improvement in the current shot. It seems to make settings for the next shot (but that's a complete different picture) and so it's wrong

It's for the current frame, enable simplified histogram with ETTR info, look at before and after enabling ETTR as "Always ON", settings will be changed by ML once activated.

2. Auto Snap - this tries to make a second picture but the camera has been move since...

IF it decides a second shot is needed THEN it makes a shot right after the one you've made, it will make it NOW, not in 5 minutes or tomorrow, so unless you stop the camera really fast it will make one.

3. Set or HalfSDblClick should activate LiveView and should go back automatic and take the shot... but it doesn't do so

It should NOT take a shot by it self, that's what "Always ON" is for, it will change settings so YOU can take the shot or if you don't like what in decided, YOU change something or whatever.

1. sound bars stopping after the first recording but moving again by triggering the Canon MENU on and off
2. sound recording stopping after the first video recording and never recovering until a camera restart

*record without sound and "audio failed to stop, state 4"

*"Threads failed to start"
*pressing record button doesn't work ( a 600 bytes MLV and eight 52 bytes M00..M08 files are created )
*invoking the Canon MENU stops the camera

*Sound bars don't move any more
*Open Canon Menu via MENU button ( don't change anything )

*Start MLV RAW recording
*Sound bars move
*Stop MLV RAW recording
*BUT sound was not recorded
*Sound bars don't move anymore
*Red "audio failed to stop, state 4" is displayed which brings me to the issue at hand :-|

So it works only on the first video mostly, after that is just does not record anything until you restart the camera.
Retrying yields a red message according to /modules/mlv_snd/mlv_snd.c:231: "audio failed to stop, state 4" when pressing record at the end of the videos, retrying multiple times, say 3 or 4 will finally yield a message according to /modules/mlv_rec/mlv_rec.c:3226: "Threads failed to start".

/LE: In the video the bars stop moving a bit after I enable them and just after RAW recording is enabled, SO even before starting to record ( look at ~1:54 ), hence a camera restart is needed.
