How about implementing an electronic version of gratuated ND filter?

Adobe just released version 8.1 of Adobe Camera Raw

You can create 16-bit tiff from adobe camera raw or from after effects then import them to premiere pro and nest the whole bunch on timeline. It,s a pretty messy workflow since importing longer tiff-sequences will take a while.

Premiere Pro (at least CS6) doesn't support 16bit TIFF - "unsupported bit depth"

A lot of red gives even Raw a hard time. I wonder if anybody of you can get out a proper image of this DNG file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10273766/000400.dng (converted by Raw2Dng version 2013-05-30)
EDIT: This is ETTR exposed and exposure has to be pulled down at least by 2 stops before start playing with it.

I tried Adobe Camera Raw (ACR 7.4) and failed. In my final video I converted the specific clips to CineForm Raw by the tool David Newman provided. It's better but they still aren't the quality you would expect. Any ideas?

Why not just making your own? It's an 8bit BMP 720x480, white = transparent, which you put in /ML/cropmks

I did a simple batch script which works per drag&drop and puts all DNGs of the dragged RAW file in a subfolder where the RAW file is located. This doesn't delete or move any files.

* Create a folder somewhere, put raw2dng.exe and mkdng.cmd (this script) there
* Create a shortcut of mkdng.cmd and put it on the Desktop
* Drag the RAW file to the shortcut

I'm glad having the opportunity thanks to you guys!

Now file name starts from scratch with every empty card you put in. On 5D3 this leads to overwritten sound files on SD when you change CF. I know Raw is so early stage but it already works like a treat so it would be cool to get consecutively numbered file names independently from card.

Sounds good, what about a tool mlraw2cfraw or even import the raw file into Cineform Studio?

I was a little concerned about heat but card and camera body didn't get warmer than after a 10 minute test.
